Our horses are kept in stables under excellent conditions, with proper handling and feeding. They are monitored by a veterinarian and only go out on the beach when we have visitors.
One of our professional riders will assess each visitor’s skill level to provide the necessary instructions on how to ride these horses and will accompany you throughout the ride.
With horses suitable for all levels of riders, from novices to experts, Horses Cartagena Tours will work hard to match you with the perfect horse.
After the ride, you can enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner, and the team at Horses Cartagena Tours will provide you with beautiful pictures of this unforgettable experience.

- Transfer Hotel – Manzanillo Beaches , located 20 minutes away from the old city of Cartagena.

- For travelers of cruises we can pick up at 9:00 am and come back at good time for the cruise

Best experience of our entire trip - Luis and his daughter Maria picked us up from our hotel in Centro Cartagena and took us to their ranch, along the way they gave us some insights into the local area and its wildlife. At the ranch we were introduced to the Paso Fino horses and given a demonstration of their unusual gait and learnt about the history of these magnificent animals. We then drove to the local beach and, after a very short wait, the horses arrived (Gaviota and Muneca), we mounted up and set off along the coast. Once we were comfortable on the horses, Luis and his daughter took some wonderful video and photos of us riding through the water. We then went for a long ride down the beach and back and were able to ride the horse out in the waves before going back to the hotel for a drink and cerviche before our trip back to the hotel.
A wonderful experience from people who are clearly passionate about their animals. Wish we had done it earlier in our holiday as we would have booked additional experiences with Cartagena Horse Tours.

Magical fantastic experience - What a magical fantastic experience
We were welcomed at our hotel by Luis and Maria. They drove us to their lovely ranch and took care of us the whole afternoon. After learning more about the specificities of the local breed of horses, we then went to the beach. And then the magic started. We spent over an hour horseback riding on the beach with the horses in the sunset. It felt safe and wild. My son was having the time of his life and so was I. Louis is a veterinarian, he knows his stuff but most of all he loves his horses like members of his family. He doesn’t over promote because he wants his horses to be healthy and happy.
I can only thank them for making this moment with my son even more special..

I wanted to relive the horseback riding experience after many years without doing so so I celebrated my birthdays like this - I think riding on the beach in the blazing sun and breeze was great. They have professional staff and an excellent guide.

A dream come true - My father and I were staying in Cartagena and I had wanted to try horseback riding on the beach. What a dream come true! These palo fino horses were very comfortable to ride. Before starting on the beach, we received a mini presentation by Maria. She explained how Palo Fino's evolved from other horses, how they moved in comparison to other horses, and then we got to see short examples of how they walk. Then, we made a pit stop at a beautiful hotel/restaurant for a drink, and then off we went. After an hour or two of riding on the beach and taking photos (which were great quality!) we came back to the restaurant for a little ceviche snack, were sent the photos, and then returned back to our hotel. Thanks, Maria, for such an educational and fun ride!

Awesome experience- would do again! - Father and daughter duo was awesome! I’m an experienced rider and my bf has never been on a horse before and they catered to both of us always making sure we were comfortable with everything. And they did a photo shoot as soon as we got to the beach and then sent us all the pics and videos which i was so appreciative of! I always wanted to ride a Paso Fino and this did not disappoint! If you want to ride in the waves on the beach then book this!!’

Romantic horseback riding on the beach - The horse tour was the best part of our trip to Colombia. Since it is a private tour we received the undivided attention of our guide and learned about the history of Paso Fino horses in Colombia before going on a horseback adventure on the beautiful beaches of Colombia. Also included was a delicious lunch. This is the perfect romantic experience especially if your significant other loves horses. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this tour as well as the ecotour to the Rosario Islands by the same family owned and operated business.

Brilliant day! - How good!
This was a fantastic day. Luis and his team (mostly family) are so passionate you can’t help but smile. They’re extremely attentive and really do look after you for the day.
The show and pre riding explanation was good fun and even before arriving Luis was showing us local birds and wildlife.
Then there was the riding portion and you can really tell that Luis wants you to improve and gives you riding tips to keep your riding independent (which isn’t seen often on similar riding experiences)
Incredible day and massive thanks to Luis and his family for having us

Beautiful experience riding horses! - This was such a beautiful experience! Luis and Maria were excellent tour guides. From the moment they picked us up at the hotel, they made us feel welcome and excited. It is clear they take excellent care of their horses and are very passionate about their work. Although I was a bit nervous about getting on the horse, I quickly got over my fears. There is always someone there to help with the horses in case you need it. The ocean is beautiful and riding the horses in the water is extremely peaceful. They also took very beautiful photos of us and then we rode along the beach the rest of the time. We were then provided a delicious meal and drinks. The car ride home felt like riding with friends. Truly cannot recommend enough! Make sure you wear and reapply mosquito repellent!

Overpriced, under delivered - The tour felt poorly organized from the start. The operator reached out a couple days ahead of the tour and informed me that due to unforeseen circumstances he will not be in town and the horse show will have to be canceled, giving me a choice to cancel the tour. But since we were interested in horse riding, we decided to proceed. We were picked at the hotel on time in a clean cool car and an English-speaking guide. It was the rest of the tour that was disappointing. Instead of 2 hours of riding, we had an hour at the most, and a lot of that time was taken up by a photo shop on a beach. While I welcome few momentous, that was not the purpose of the tour. Then there was a misunderstanding whether it was safe to go on a trail, with one local guide saying we shouldn’t and another saying that it was ok since we were traveling with locals. It was not, it seemed, a typical route. After riding we were invited to a local hotel for refreshments. We left after an hour and a half, without “refreshments”. The tour operator apologized next day, saying that unfortunately all “ the hotels were booked”, but we booked the tour a month in advance, which should have been sufficient amount of time to make arrangements. All in all, the price tag of almost $500 for 3 people was not justified.
