The next destination is the Monument to the Old Shoes, followed by a visit to the Fort of San Felipe de Barajas, constructed in 1657 during the Spanish colonial period, with entrance and a guided tour included. • Monumento a la India Catalina - This monument, crafted by sculptor Eladio Gil, honors American roots. According to legend, Catalina was a warrior born in nearby Galerazamba, later sold as a slave in Santo Domingo. In 1533, Pedro de Heredia brought her to Cartagena as an interpreter. She played a crucial role in the beginning of miscegenation in Cartagena de Indias by facilitating Spanish settlement.
