The Long March to Freedom - The South African Native National Congress was established 112 years ago on January 8, 1912, during a gathering in Bloemfontein by prominent Black leaders from across the nation, including businesspeople, chiefs, clergy, academics, and professionals. It was renamed the African National Congress, or ANC, a century ago, in 1923. The organization’s mission was to advocate for equal legal rights for Black citizens and to protest racial injustice. Founding members included Pixley ka Isaka Seme, Sol Plaatje, John Dube, and Walter Rubusana.
Reflecting on this journey, Mandela acknowledges this collective effort as the Long March for Freedom: The Long March to Freedom, a grand display of 100 life-size bronze statues and the largest exhibition of its kind globally, opened to the public at Century City, Cape Town, on November 15, 2019.

With over 1,400 plant species, many endemic to the area, it is part of the Cape Flora Kingdom, one of the smallest and most diverse floral kingdoms in the world. Named for its flat, table-like appearance, the clouds that form over it are locally known as the “table cloth.” Scientists estimate Table Mountain is approximately 360 million years old. The mountain spans about 25,000 hectares and rises 1,086 meters above sea level, attracting around 900,000 visitors annually. It is the only South African and natural site globally to have a constellation named after it, “Mensa,” meaning “table” in Latin.
