Witness and Wonder: a Journey through Robben Island - A deeply moving experience from start to finish. The boat ride to Robben Island set the tone, but it was Samuel who truly brought the place to life. His knowledge, warmth, and sensitivity to the site’s history made every moment resonate. He didn’t just guide us; he invited us to witness, reflect, and understand. We left not only informed, but changed. Samuel is a remarkable guide, and this tour is one we’ll carry with us always. Highly recommended.

Informative experience - This was one of the best tours I have had since in Cape Town. It was full of information and education. The tour guides as well as the transportation were exceptional. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to know about the time Mandela spent in prison. The presenter was in prison himself with Mandela.

Visiting Robben Island in April was an unforgettable and emotional journey. The trip began with a peaceful ferry ride fr - I visited Robben Island in April, and it was a truly moving experience. The ferry ride from the V&A Waterfront offered beautiful views, but the most powerful part was the guided tour by a former political prisoner. Hearing firsthand stories and walking through the prison, especially Nelson Mandela’s cell, gave deep insight into South Africa’s struggle for freedom. The island’s history is painful but inspiring, showing the strength of the human spirit. The tour was well-organized and informative. I highly recommend visiting Robben Island to better understand the country’s journey from apartheid to democracy. It’s a must-see destination.

Beware if Booking this Tour - I booked this tour for 3 adults and paid AUD $135 each. The day before the tour Cape Diamond contacted me to say we had to pay another RAD $450 each for Foreigners and then through a third party sent me a payment link which I refused to use. After much conversation between this company and myself I asked for the booking to be cancelled and my money refunded. They refused to refund and said all other people had paid the extra fees. I will never book a tour with this company again and too be honest I don’t think I will use Trip Advisor again as it has let a bad taste with me. Bruce 12 November 2025
