Numerous photo opportunities are available as you navigate the drive, enjoying some of Cape Town’s most picturesque views. • Boulders Beach Penguin Colony - Boulders Beach is home to the endangered African penguin and is one of only two mainland penguin colonies in South Africa. A boardwalk was built to protect the penguins’ peace and slow their extinction rate, allowing visitors to safely observe and photograph the penguins. NOTICE: Touching or feeding the penguins is prohibited.
• Simon’s Town - Named after Governor Simon Van Der Stel, who founded the town in the late 1600s, Simon’s Town serves as a naval port and is distinguished by its Victorian buildings along the main road. The town is also known for some of Cape Town’s finest seafood restaurants. Visitors may choose to dine at a restaurant of their choice. Meals are not included.
• Cape Point Ostrich Farm - Located 100 meters from the Cape Point National Park gate entrance, the Cape Point Ostrich Farm allows roadside viewing of ostriches. For a closer encounter, guides can drive visitors inside the farm to view, photograph, and feed the ostriches.
• Cape Point Nature Reserve - Home to the world’s richest floral kingdom, Cape Point National Park boasts over 2000 plant species, with 70% endemic to the area. Wildlife such as antelopes, ostriches, birds, zebras, and baboons also inhabit the reserve.
• Old Cape Point Lighthouse - Perched at Cape Point peak, over 400 meters above sea level, the unused Cape Point Lighthouse is the third oldest lighthouse and attracts hikers daily from the Cape Point car park. The views from the lighthouse are among the best in and around Cape Town. For those who prefer not to hike, a funicular is available at an additional cost.
