• Joostenberg Vlakte - Begin your hot air balloon adventure at Klein Joostenberg. Once the balloon is heated, you’ll ascend and take in the stunning views of the Stellenbosch winelands, with the Simonsberg and Paarl Rock mountains in sight. The flight lasts about an hour before landing, after which you’ll return to the starting point for a delightful breakfast.

DISCLAIMER: The balloon ride is shared but can be made private upon request and availability. If the hot air balloon ride is canceled due to weather, the tour will continue with a wine tasting. In case of cancellation, you can opt for a refund for the balloon portion or reschedule for the next available day. We can also arrange return transfers from Cape Town to the balloon starting point at minimal costs.

• Stellenbosch - Nestled between the Stellenbosch hills and Jonkershoek Mountain is South Africa’s second oldest colonial town, Stellenbosch! The whitewashed Cape Dutch-style homes, dating back to the 17th century, line the old streets, evoking a sense of nostalgia. Dutch-designed furrows and English oak trees grace the town, creating a unique atmosphere. In the heart of this historic village, you’ll find museums, art galleries, and various shops and cafes. Upon arrival, your tour guide will provide an orientation before allowing you to explore this majestic and historic town at your leisure.

• Lanzerac Wine Estate - Lanzerac is one of South Africa’s oldest wine estates, located just minutes from Stellenbosch town. The vineyards have been cultivated since the late 17th century. Today, with over three centuries of experience, Lanzerac produces world-class wines and was the first to bottle a South African wine called Pinotage. A variety of tasting options are available, including a wine and chocolate pairing.

• Delaire Graff Estate - Few wineries offer a luxurious experience like the Lawrence Graff-owned Delaire Graff. Located along the famous Hell’s Heights Pass, it boasts uninterrupted views of the Drakenstein mountains and Banhoek Valley. Bronze sculptures by renowned artists like Delan Lewis line the path to the tasting room, where stunning paintings adorn the walls. Complementing the beautiful landscape and architecture are the award-winning wines. The vineyards in Banhoek Valley benefit from a southeast-facing slope, producing some of the area’s best cabernets. Here, you’ll sample three white wines, three red wines, and a rosé. You can also enjoy the famous Delaire Graff cheese platter at your own cost.

• Maison Estate - Maison is one of three homes to Chef’s Warehouses in Cape Town. Emphasizing small tasting plates and a shared dining experience, Chef’s Warehouse is a top choice for casual fine dining. The set menu changes seasonally.

• Franschhoek - Formerly known as Elephant’s Corner due to the herds of elephants that once roamed the area, Franschhoek is now a top destination for visitors worldwide. The vineyards are meticulously maintained, world-class restaurants abound, and the hotel service is so luxurious that one might wonder about profitability. Some believe Franschhoek is a millionaire’s playground! Feel free to explore the town before your final tasting at Dieu Donne Wines.

• Dieu Donne Vineyards & Tasting Room - Located on the southwest-facing slopes of the Drakenstein mountains, Dieu Donne vineyards enjoy a cooler climate and rocky soils from weathered granite. The wines range from new styles to traditional reds that compete with some of Bordeaux’s best. The tasting room offers sweeping views of the Franschhoek Valley, complementing the exquisite wines.

Our itinerary includes breakfast, followed by an in-depth tour of Stellenbosch, one of South Africa’s most historic townships. The journey continues with visits to the Lanzerac and Delaire Graff wineries, and Franschhoek. You’ll indulge in tastings featuring southeast- and southwest-facing grape varieties from both the Banhoek and Franschhoek valleys. Returning to Cape Town after an hour’s drive, we’ll pass the Drakenstein Correctional Service where you’ll have the opportunity to take a photo with a bronze life-sized statue of Nelson Mandela.
