Less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town, the area north of Stellenbosch is celebrated internationally not only for its Paarl wines but also for the stunning beauty of its natural surroundings.

The name Paarl means ‘pearl,’ reflecting how the ancient granite mountains, which early Dutch settlers called ‘den Diamont ende Peerlbergh’ (‘the diamond and pearl mountain’), shimmer in the distance.

The world-renowned tasting room features four unique, barrel-shaped ‘pods’ that create a welcoming and social tasting environment. These custom-designed pods offer a selection of six different wines, with dedicated hosts to guide and assist guests. A diverse range of wines is always available for visitors to choose from, including exclusive selections only available at the cellar door.

The tasting options are as follows:
(1) - An expertly paired selection of wines with cow and goat’s milk cheeses
(2) - Plant-based cheese and wine pairing - Vegan friendly
(3) - Kid’s Tasting: A selection of five sweeter cheeses, one sweet treat, and a glass of EGA or lemonade

• Stellenbosch - After a splendid time at the first vineyard, the tour continues with a 15-minute drive to the next vineyard for another exceptional wine experience, exploring some of the finest wines produced in the region.

Influenced by French heritage and international expertise, the vineyard strives to create French-style wines with a touch of South African flair. The belief in natural, minimal intervention winemaking is strong, with the conviction that the secret to great wine lies in the vineyard and the beautiful landscape surrounding it.

Guests will experience a biltong and wine pairing of five carefully selected wines, paired with premium cuts of biltong.

Biltong is a cured, dry meat often enjoyed as a snack by South Africans.

A vegetarian option is also available: A pairing of wine and chocolates.

If lunch is desired on the day (afternoon tour only), please inform the guide at the start of the tour to allow for necessary arrangements with the vineyard.

• Stellenbosch - The wine experience is not complete without visiting the town of Stellenbosch…

The charming town of Stellenbosch is surrounded by the Stellenbosch Mountains in the Jonkershoek River Valley, one of the most picturesque settings in the Cape.

As the second oldest town in South Africa, it is affectionately called ‘Eikestad’ or city of oaks, with streets lined with some of the most beautiful surviving examples of Cape Dutch, Georgian, and Victorian architecture in the Cape.

Guests will have time to stroll along Dorp Street and De Braak Street in Stellenbosch, browsing through a variety of boutique stores and admiring the enticing Dutch buildings.

After enjoying all the wonders of the Cape Winelands Tour, the journey concludes with a return to Cape Town, where guests will be dropped off at their hotel.
