Highly recommend this eye-opening experience! - It was a very welcoming, warm, insightful and eye-opening experience. As a local, Chippa is the best person to share the insights of his own life and of the people of the town. We learnt a lot about the origins, history and the daily life of Langa. It was a mix of happiness, sadness, frustration and joy we felt through this experience. Highly recommend for everyone visiting South Africa as well as South Africans themselves to learn a more complete picture of the country and their fellow citizens.

A wonderful experience..don't miss it! - A wonderful, emotional and educational experience. We felt we couldn't leave Capetown without understanding the experience of the majority of people living there. We felt really welcome and safe as Wandile showed us around. As he grew up there he gave us a real insight to life, and many people greeted him and us. A real highlight was the introduction to his friends who set up a local delivery business, a really positive story. Highly recommend this tour.

Unforgettable experience, felt very safe - Chippa gave us an unforgettable experience. It was very insightful and moving at the same time. We asked him so many questions during the tour, and he patiently answered all of them, even extending the tour by almost an hour to still show us everything he wanted us to see. A huge thank you Chippa!

Eye-opening and real - I did this township tour in Langa with Chippa and honestly it was one of the most meaningful things I’ve done in Cape Town. As a South African, I really appreciated how real and grounded the experience was. Nothing felt staged. Chippa shared his own story, knowledge and history of the community in such an open and warm way, making the experience feel personal rather than scripted. We met local residents, popped into small businesses, and got a glimpse of everyday life: the tough realities but also the creativity and strong sense of community that townships are known for. It left me feeling proud to be South African, but also reflective about how much work we still have to do as a country. There were definitely moments that were emotionally challenging. Seeing first-hand some of the conditions people are living in isn’t easy, especially when you know this is the daily reality for so many South Africans, and in comparison to my everday life. But I actually think that discomfort is important since it made me more aware in a way that statistics or headlines never can, and it reminded me why empathy and social change still matter here hugely. If you’re visiting Cape Town (or even if you live here), I’d 100% recommend doing this with Chippa. Properly eye-opening and a genuinely important element of South Africa.

Impactful and recommended experience - Chipa left a memorable experience on our South African trip. The township tour gave a glimpse of an important side of South Africa rarely accessible for the regular tourist. It was raw and impactful. Honestly, prior to our trip I felt unsure about taking the tour for safety reasons, but there was not a single moment where I felt unsafe during the tour. 100% recommended.

A must do experience with an incredible guide - I would recommend this tour to every single person visiting Cape Town! Chippa is an amazing guide who’s from the township and will brighten up your entire day. I felt safe the entire time and even with my nice Nikon camera never felt unsafe. This tour is truly special because you don’t merely walk around but you get the opportunity to interact with individuals from all walks of life in the township. This experience really opens your eyes to South Africa and is a beautiful honest account of life in the Townships. 12/10 recommend!!

Chippa was our driver and... - Chippa was our driver and guide and also part of the company responsible for conducting this tour. He lives in Langa himself and clearly knew may of those living there and so was an excellent guide. He explained the history of the Langa township and why townships still exist 30 years after the advent of democracy in S Africa. He took us into people's homes, where we met the residents. We also visited a cultural centre, a start-up delivery business, a pottery and an infant school and were able to speak with those involved. An educational, enlightening and humbling experience that gave a perspective on the lifestyles of the inhabitants of the township in contrast to the lifestyles of the Cape Town city dwellers. A must for those seeking to understand something of how life is for the majority of local inhabitants, as well as for the majority of the population across the country as a whole.

Don't miss out on a trip to Langa! - Luthando, our guide for the day, is a legend. He picked us up from the Eastern Cape and we immediately felt at ease with him. He's charismatic, knowledgeable, great fun, and he wanted us to treat him as a 'friend' rather than just a guide. He is clearly well respected by the Langa township people. We felt welcomed there, and the warmth we received from locals was unforgettable. It's a respectful insight into township life. Luthando was very clear when photos were permitted and where not. This experience is 100% recommended.
