- Company’s Gardens - As the oldest garden, park, and heritage site in South Africa, it was established in 1650 to grow fresh produce for ships rounding the cape. It was also the starting point for a 30,000-strong demonstration led by Archbishop Desmond Tutu in 1989, where he coined the term ‘rainbow people’ to describe South Africa’s diverse population.
The garden is famous for its friendly squirrels, and visitors can buy nuts to feed them, a favorite activity for children. The food offerings are delightful, featuring traditional Capetonian dishes alongside standard lunch options. The garden also houses the South African National Gallery, which hosts temporary exhibitions by leading local and occasional international artists. Spending a few hours here allows visitors to feed squirrels, enjoy traditional Capetonian cuisine, and attend art exhibitions at the gallery.
- Castle of Good Hope - As one of the oldest buildings in South Africa, the Castle of Good Hope remains open to visitors, showcasing historical events from 350 years ago. The Key Ceremony and Cannon Firing are part of the experience. Note: The Key Ceremony runs Monday to Friday, and Cannon Firing does not occur on Sundays; both are weather-dependent.
-
Bo-kaap - Known as the Malay Quarter, this area is famous for its colorful houses and is predominantly a Muslim neighborhood. Bo-Kaap boasts the largest concentration of pre-1850 architecture in South Africa and is Cape Town’s oldest surviving residential area.
Visitors can admire the vibrant houses, learn about Bo-Kaap’s history and culture, savor Cape Malay cuisine at top restaurants, interact with locals, and capture plenty of photos. - Table Mountain - Following Bo-Kaap, the tour continues to the stunning Table Mountain, where visitors can take a round cableway cart to enjoy breathtaking views of Cape Town City and capture numerous photos.
-
Signal Hill - Connecting Kloof Nek to Lion’s Head, Signal Hill is shaped like a lion’s rump and is a renowned spot in Cape Town for sundowners. The views from the 350m high summit are spectacular, especially at night, making it a popular spot for picnic dinners and drinks.
In the evenings, Signal Hill is akin to a ‘lovers lane,’ attracting couples who enjoy the romantic lights and the Table Mountain backdrop, particularly in summer when the mountain is illuminated at night. - Camps Bay - Known as the Beverly Hills of Cape Town, Camps Bay offers stunning views of the 12 Apostles. Visitors can stop briefly to take pictures and enjoy the scenery.
-
Victoria & Alfred Waterfront - Located between Robben Island and Table Mountain in Cape Town’s bustling harbor, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is South Africa’s most visited destination. With a backdrop of stunning sea and mountain views, it offers exciting shopping and entertainment venues, alongside imaginative office spaces, world-class hotels, and luxury apartments in the residential marina. Visitors are invited to experience living, working, shopping, and playing at the V&A Waterfront.
The restaurants and shops are world-class, providing a glamorous travel experience in South Africa. As one of Cape Town’s major tourist attractions, the Waterfront evokes the early activities of the harbor. Its charm lies in the busy commercial harbor set amidst a vast entertainment venue with pubs, restaurants, specialty shops, craft markets, theaters, and cinemas.
