- Bantry Bay - Discover the upscale Bantry Bay, nestled beneath Lion’s Head Mountain, famous for its unique wind-free environment. With over 250 calm days each year, this area provides a peaceful retreat from Cape Town’s typically breezy conditions.
- Clifton - Another prestigious area, Clifton, is perched high on the mountainside. Known for its high-value real estate, Clifton also boasts some of the finest beaches near Cape Town. The four Clifton beaches are naturally divided by granite boulders.
- Camp’s Bay Beach - Within walking distance from the beach, visitors can find a shopping center, a theater, rooftop bars, fine dining restaurants, beachside boutiques, and luxurious hotels.
- Hout Bay - A village surrounded by the cool Atlantic and mountains. Every road leading here crosses mountain passes. When a sign saying “Welcome to The Republic of Hout Bay” appears, there’s no need to worry about passports! Known for its established tuna, snoek, and crayfish industries, Hout Bay features one of the busiest fishing harbors in the Western Cape. The Hout Bay Yacht Club and several restaurants are located around the harbor. Three routes traverse mountain passes to reach Hout Bay.
- Seal Island - Duiker Island: There will be a one-hour stop at Hout Bay Harbor, where participants can board a boat for a 40-minute trip to a scenic island home to around 5,000 Cape fur seals. For those not interested in the boat ride, there’s the option to explore the craft market or take a ten-minute walk to Hout Bay Beach. The seals can be viewed from the boat. Note that this optional activity may extend the journey by an additional hour.
- Chapman’s Peak Drive - Embark on an exciting journey along the renowned Chapman’s Peak Drive, affectionately called “Chapies.” This engineering marvel stretches 9 kilometers along the stunning Chapman’s Peak mountains, offering breathtaking views of cliffs meeting the vast Atlantic Ocean. Capture the moment with photo stops showcasing white sand beaches and dramatic coastal vistas. Experience the charm of this iconic route.
- Noordhoek Farm Village - At the southern end of Chapman’s Peak Drive lies an agricultural community in Noordhoek. The thatched and whitewashed buildings serve as retail spaces for juice bars, coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, craft shops, and clothing stores. There will be an opportunity to enjoy some of these during a brief break.
- Cape Point Ostrich Farm - Join a guided tour of the breeding station. Those who appreciate quality leather will enjoy the wide selection of ostrich leather products.
- Cape of Good Hope - Famous for being the African region where the Indian and Cold Atlantic waters meet. However, the Cape of Good Hope is simply Africa’s most southwestern point. Hiking the Cape’s top trails is a fantastic way to enjoy the scenery and get some exercise. The Cape of Good Hope sign is also a major attraction. The guide will recommend various hiking trails from this location.
- Old Cape Point Lighthouse - Choose between a scenic walk or a funicular ride (additional cost) to reach South Africa’s third oldest lighthouse. Enjoy the 360-degree panoramic views of the national park from this historic spot. The original lighthouse, launched in 1860, served for 40 years before being decommissioned due to its high altitude, which was hazardous for sailors in cloudy weather. A new lighthouse, strategically located at a lower altitude, now stands in its place.
- Simon’s Town - Along the shore of False Bay lies another affluent and peaceful community. Victorian-era Simon’s Town offers some of the freshest seafood restaurants, where visitors can take an hour to stop for lunch.
- Boulders Beach Penguin Colony - Home to thousands of African penguins, also known as tuxedo swimmers, the endangered colony at Boulders Beach is a must-see! Visitors can stroll along the shoreline, capturing close-up photos of these flightless birds. The guide will also share current information about the penguins. Large groups of penguins are present, and the beach and water provide a stunning backdrop. The penguins are remarkable. Highly recommended; it’s worth waiting in line during the holidays even if there is one.
- Muizenberg Beach - Today, Muizenberg is primarily known for its long stretch of white sand beach, consistent surf breaks, and colorful beach cottages. Additionally, it’s a bohemian haven with numerous independent shops and art galleries. “The surfers corner” is another name for Muizenberg Beach. The beach’s vibrantly colored changing huts provide a fantastic backdrop for photos. Assuming sufficient time and manageable traffic, this will be the final stop before heading north towards Cape Town, concluding an amazing day of touring.
