Authentic township experience with Mzu - We had an amazing tour with Mzu. He shared a lot about the history of Cape Town and life in the township while introducing us to people from the community. It was clear he has real relationships there and is deeply respected by the locals.
The tour felt authentic, eye-opening, and was one of the most memorable experiences of our time in Cape Town. If you want to see a different side of the city and support the local community, I highly recommend doing this tour with Mzu.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable, Authentic Cape Town Experience - Ox picked me up—right on time with a welcoming smile and to my surprise, I was the only one on the tour so getting a private tour was a plus! Ox started sharing insights about Cape Town immediately, pointing out landmarks on our drive to the township and setting the stage for what became one of the most meaningful experiences of my trip.
Our first stop was a community center where I met Chills, a local artist and community organizer whose generosity and insight left a lasting impression. I even participated in an impromptu African drumming mini class (I must do this again!). The center was filled with incredible art, much of it available to purchase.
Ox then guided me through Langa township with care and depth. We visited the Pass house to learn about the area’s history, walked through neighborhoods showing three distinct levels of living throughout the township, passed a school and the place where children do homework, saw local markets, and so much more. And the amagwinya? OMG Absolutely delicious!
What struck me most was watching Ox interact with residents. He’s clearly beloved here, greeted warmly at every turn. This isn’t just a tour he leads—he loves this work and the community loves him. That authenticity shines through in every moment.
This experience was rich with history, culture, and genuine human connection. If you want to see a side of Cape Town that most visitors miss, book this tour. You won’t regret it.

Absolutely recommend and very memorable - I did this tour solo and guide Ox was the best and very knowledgeable company. We first went to an art centre where Chillz, a local artist gave me a tour and told me about their work in the community. Later we walked around the township and I got lots of insights into the daily life there. Ox knew everyone and we were welcomed very friendly. I learned a lot and would recommend everyone to go and have this one experience!

Inspiring Township Experience - Our Township Tour with Mzu, the owner and guide, was truly outstanding. We met wonderful people, learned so much about South Africa’s history, and visited several meaningful community projects that support local residents, children, and young people. The highlight for us was a stop at the local barbershop, where my boyfriend even got his beard trimmed—an unforgettable and fun moment. This tour felt genuine, respectful, and deeply insightful. Highly recommended!

Mzu between township and wine - The visit to the Langa township was very impactful. Mzu is an excellent guide and will convey the love and respect for this neighborhood and the sense of community that is inherent in it. It was definitely a visit we will not forget. We continued our visit to Stellenbosch where we visited two wineyards. The difference in scenery between morning and afternoon is very strong and left us with many points to reflect on.
We can only recommend this tour!

Interesting tour - Interesting walking tour in a small group to one of the oldest townships. The places and people visited seemed used to such tours, and we saw several other similar groups visiting the neighbourhood. Our guide Ox had a lot of experience with this tour and was very knowledgeable. Re tips: It would have been nice to have more time in the museum, while the visit to the cultural centre felt rather long (with many donation boxes).
