A tour of Canterbury Cathedral is optional and not included, but it can be pre-booked by arrangement.
• Chilham Village - The operator has resided in Kent, often called ‘The Garden of England’, for most of their life. Surrounding Canterbury are some of the most picturesque and scenic Kent villages, many dating back over 1000 years. While Canterbury and Dover Castle are breathtaking, clients always appreciate these charming villages often overlooked by travelers. It takes little time to detour and delve into the rich history of this part of England, which dates back over 1000 years, exploring how people lived, their origins, and how the villages continue to thrive today. Godmersham, Elham, and Chilham are just a few examples, and the operator would love to take you there. They feature beautiful village squares, ancient timber-framed houses, and numerous local shops, pubs, and churches.
• The White Horse Inn - The operator enjoys a classic English pub. There’s nothing better than ‘a pint and some pub grub’ in the charming surroundings of an ancient pub. Many are steeped in history, dating back over 500 years, from the days when a coach and horses were the primary mode of travel, and the pub often served as an overnight stop on long journeys and was the center of most communities. The operator is happy to add a quick pub lunch to your itinerary - it doesn’t require much time, and the food is better than sometimes rumored! Clients love this excursion. The operator will work with you to select a delightful pub - although The White Horse is a favorite, there are many available.
• Dover Castle - Dover Castle was established in the 11th century by Henry II on the site of a Norman fortification built by William the Conqueror in 1066. Often called the ‘Key to England’ due to its strategic location as the nearest point to mainland Europe and France. The tour will cover the castle, the keep, and its role in the Dunkirk rescue of 1940. The access fee to Dover Castle is INCLUDED.
