What distinguishes this canoeing safari is its ability to immerse participants in Africa’s wilderness, allowing them to experience it from the water itself. Unlike conventional wildlife tours that observe animals from a vehicle or boat, this adventure places participants at river-level in a canoe, silently navigating the Upper Zambezi’s channels above Victoria Falls. This tranquil form of travel offers encounters with elephants drinking at the water’s edge, hippos surfacing nearby, crocodiles lounging on banks, and a remarkable variety of birdlife, all with a level of intimacy and immersion that larger boats or safari jeeps cannot provide.
Many travelers describe the experience as a “once-in-a-lifetime journey,” highlighting how the slow, quiet pace allows them to absorb the rhythms of nature, observe wildlife in peaceful coexistence, and enjoy riverside meals—moments often regarded as highlights of their entire Victoria Falls trip. It’s an authentic African safari experience by canoe.
