A Wild, Wonderful Day on the Ocean with Marty — Campbell River's Finest Adventure - Our ocean tour with Campbell River Whale Watching and Adventure Tours was nothing short of magical. This wasn’t just sightseeing — it was a full immersion into the untamed wilderness of British Columbia’s coastal waters. From orcas and humpback whales to harbor porpoises, Steller sea lions, bald eagles, and even ancient pictoglyphs, every moment was a discovery.
Our guide, Marty, was an absolute gem — not only highly knowledgeable and experienced but also warm, engaging, and truly passionate about the wildlife and waters he calls home. His storytelling gave context to everything we saw, from the orca behavior to the humpback lineage. Every sighting became part of a bigger story.
We journeyed through beautifully named channels like Whale Passage (ironically, no whales there this time!), Calm Channel, and Surge Narrows, passing through Hole-in-the-Wall rapids and enjoying lunch near remote Stewart Island. We watched sea lions fishing in packs, flinging fish into the air as flocks of gulls and eagles swooped in for scraps — a wild, chaotic, and breathtaking spectacle of coastal life.
And just when we thought the day couldn’t be more complete, Marty pointed us toward a spot where we were lucky enough to spot wild bears later that day — an unexpected gift that made our trip to Vancouver Island feel truly legendary.
The boat was safe and comfortable, perfect for all ages. Marty made everyone feel included and excited, from the youngest passenger to seasoned nature lovers.
Marty joked that we should tell the world if we had a great time — so here it is: this was one of the best wildlife tours we’ve ever done. If you're visiting Vancouver Island, don’t miss this experience. And if you’re lucky enough to get Marty as your guide, you’re in for something truly special.
Highly recommended for families, solo travelers, and anyone who wants to feel the wild heart of British Columbia.

They left us speechless! - The 6h zodiac tour exceeded all expectations! We saw killer whales, humpbacks, bald eagles, porpoises, sea lions, seals and even a bear! Our guides Becks and Lexy went out of their way to give us the best possible day. Their explanation was very interesting too. Lunch is very tasty too!

A bucket list trip - This trip was worth every penny. We based our trip to Campbell river around our plan to join this tour and it did not disappoint. As well as seeing breathtaking coastline, bald eagles, impressive houses, sea lions and having a delicious lunch, we were wowed with multiple whale sightings.
Our fantastic guide Jack knew so much about the area and was proud to share it all with us. When we approached the whales, he gave them a safe distance, and we got breathtaking views of them playing, diving and breaching.
Memories to last a life time.
Thank you.
The boat was safe, clean and confortable, and there was even a toilet on board. The lunch provided was fresh and delicious, and catered well to my daughter’s allergies.

Magical - This is a must see experience with Campbell River Whale Watching. Visiting from the UK with my bestie who lives here and who booked it for my birthday treat. Best day ever… we were incredibly lucky to see so much beautiful and breathtaking sea life, and to be accompanied by the wonderfully talented and knowledgable Jarek who was so informative and just the best guide to have on the trip. Thank you.

Expectations not met - Would give a 0.5 if possible. Had a sad experience. I understand nature is not guaranteed but on a 7.5 hour trip we had 10 minutes of wildlife. Saw no bears, no orcas, no birds except a couple of seagulls. We saw a humpback flip his tail once. We saw 3 Dalls Porpoises for 5 minutes. The guide was very nice but the trip was extremely disappointing. Came from Australia after looking at reviews. Wanted desperately to see Orcas. We spent most of the time listening about how rain was a problem, and the tides being an issue. I know there is a waiver about nature being unpredictable,
but would have been good for tour to use local knowledge and partnerships to find some wildlife. Massive disappointment. The tour is called Whale Watching and Wildlife. We didn't see it. I got sick of looking at water and trees.
