Christmas Break - My wife & I spent two days in Cambridge over the 2025 Christmas period after a festive stay with our family near Norwich. Luckily the weather was dry, not too cold and enabled us to explore comfortably. We were based at the Ashley Hotel in Chesterton Rd which proved a great location - close enough to walk into town through the park, and with their own car park which was very useful. The hotel also had some interesting restaurants on the doorstep (Kurdish, Hungarian, Chinese etc.) which saved a long trek to get an evening meal. We enjoyed touring the mixture of classical university buildings and shops/restaurants, etc. similar to Oxford, just down the road from us. We'll likely come back to discover Cambridge further in future. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the Cambridge Mosque which is a stunning building, where we had a guided tour with a very knowledgeable volunteer, booked in advance via their website. https://cambridgecentralmosque.org/ Highly recommended.
