- Battambang Province - The tour begins at 9:00 AM. I can pick you up from your hotel. After a brief introduction, we’ll start by exploring the city, visiting French colonial buildings, Wat Dom Rey Sor, Lok Ta Dombong Kranhung, the local market, and more.
- Bamboo Train Battambang - On our way to the bamboo train, we’ll pass through small villages, see fruit farms, a local pagoda, and a suspension bridge. At the original bamboo train station, a ride on the bamboo train costs $5 per person. You’ll get to see small villages and the countryside from the train. Please continue reading for our next destination.
- Wat Samrong Knong - Here, we’ll visit an old Buddhist temple built over 300 years ago, which was used as a prison during the Pol Pot regime. I’ll explain the history of the Pol Pot regime and religion. You can see the skulls and bones of the victims who were killed there. Thousands of people lost their lives at this site. We’ll spend a few hours observing the daily life of local villagers, see how bamboo sticky rice is made, and taste it as a snack. We’ll then take a village road to see how rice paper for spring rolls is made and taste it as well. Afterward, we’ll visit the fish paste market (Cambodian cheese) for a short walk and experience its unique smell. Finally, we’ll see how dried bananas are made and taste them as snacks before returning to the hotel.
