Kompong Phluk - Kampong Phluk is a commune located in the Prasat Bakong District of Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. Its name means “Harbor of the Tusks.” The community primarily depends on fishing, especially for shrimp, during the wet season from May to October.
To accommodate the changing water levels between the wet and dry seasons, many buildings in the commune are constructed on stilts, ranging from 6 to 9 meters high.
In the dry season, from November to April, the river’s water level drops, prompting many residents to engage in agriculture to supplement their income. Additionally, tourism, which began to develop in the village about a decade ago, is becoming an increasingly vital part of the local economy.
As of 2019, Kampong Phluk is home to 911 families, with a total population of 3,707. The commune includes three villages: Tnaot Kambot, Dey Krahom, and Kok Kdol.
