Day 1: Welcome to Lima, City of Kings and the Larco Museum of Cultures
Jorge Chavez International Airport - Arrive in Lima, receive assistance, and transfer to the hotel.
Lima - Embark on an exclusive and immersive tour of Lima’s Historical Center to explore and admire the architectural treasures of old Lima, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The journey begins at the Convent of Santo Domingo, constructed during Lima’s founding. The Universidad Mayor de San Marcos, the oldest in America, was established here. Inside, discover the choir with the country’s oldest stalls and a library housing 25,000 books, some printed in the 15th century, of immense historical value. The remains of San Martín de Porres, San Juan Masías, and Santa Rosa de Lima rest here. Cross the Plaza Mayor to see the Government Palace and the Municipality, and enter the Cathedral, a historical gem of Lima, featuring artworks that bring colonial Lima to life.
Museo Larco - Depart downtown Lima for the Larco Museum, where you’ll gain insight into the cultures of ancient Peru. Admire gold pieces, textiles, and erotic ceramics that reveal the ancient Peruvian worldview. The museum’s warehouse will be open for our visit, showcasing artistic expressions in ceramics.
Day 2: Nasca, Enigmas of the Pampa
Paracas - Travel by bus to Paracas Bay. Upon arrival, board Aerodiana’s modern light aircraft, a Cessna Grand Caravan, at Pisco airport. Fly over Ica’s desert sands to reach the vast Nasca pampa, home to mysterious and enigmatic designs and perfect lines spanning this large expanse. These designs, visible only from the air, spark numerous theories and mysteries about their purpose and creators. Notable figures include the monkey, hummingbird, spider, lizard, astronaut, dog, condor, and lines resembling landing strips. Listen to the theories and form your own conclusions. Return to Pisco and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy free time, and consider an adventure riding a dune buggy, known locally as arenero, through the nearby desert’s vast dunes.
Day 3: Paracas, Nasca Candelabrum, Ballestas Islands & Museum
Paracas - Early morning, when the sea is calm, board speedy motorboats to visit the Ballestas Islands, part of the Paracas National Reserve of Marine Life. This protected ecological system safeguards the species inhabiting these islands. En route, encounter the mysterious El Candelabro (Candelabrum) drawing, aligned with the Nasca pampa. Upon reaching the islands, explore the large caves, home to seals, penguins, and diverse marine birds, which your expert guide will help identify. Curious seals may approach the motorboats to observe us.
Paracas - Visit the Paracas Museum to delve into the region’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Discover artifacts such as textiles, ceramics, and mummies, along with exhibits on the Paracas Peninsula’s diverse wildlife and ecosystems. The museum offers a comprehensive overview of the area’s natural and cultural history, making it a must-visit for those interested in Paracas’ fascinating heritage.
Lima - At the scheduled time, depart by bus to return to Lima. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.
Day 4: Túcume Pyramids and the Museum of the Royal Tombs of the Lord of Sipán
Chiclayo - Transfer to the airport for a flight to Chiclayo city. Upon arrival, receive assistance and transfer to the hotel to drop off luggage. Check-in is at 3 pm, with the room available after the private excursion.
Tucume Pyramids - Visit the Valley of the Pyramids in Túcume, a spectacular urban center and the most significant of its time, located just 33 km from Chiclayo. The legend of God Naylamp and Queen Ceterni arriving from the sea still inspires the locals. In Lambayeque, tour the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Sipán, built to resemble the original tomb, housing treasures of gold, silver, and precious stones of unique beauty. An unforgettable visit to a unique museum in South America. Enjoy lunch at a restaurant serving typical northern cuisine.
Day 5: El Brujo Archaeological Complex and the Museum of the Lady of Cao
Chiclayo - Depart for Trujillo in private transportation. En route, detour through the north’s sugar cane plantations to reach the small town of Magdalena de Cao. Venture into the sandy area to discover Huaca El Brujo, where the tattooed mummy of the Lady of Cao was found, along with clothing, offerings, and jewelry from her burial site. Archaeologists continue to uncover new discoveries at Huaca, observing its various construction stages and levels. Witnessing all this transports visitors to an ancient world dominated by beliefs and territorial dominance. Observe the Lady of Cao’s mummy with tattoos reflecting her power. Continue the journey to Trujillo. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.
Day 6: Huaca de la Luna Temple of the Moon, Chan Chan Citadel and Totora Reed Vessel in Huanchaco
Trujillo - In the morning, visit the impressive Huaca de la Luna, the power center in the Trujillo Valley during the Moche period. Tour the Site Museum, where many objects are displayed. Inside Huaca, observe high-relief representations of gods on the ancient temple’s walls. Next, visit Huaca del Arco Iris or Huaca del Dragón from the Chimu culture. Continue to Huanchaco, an ancient fishing cove, to see the old reed vessels known as “Caballitos de Totora” (“Totora Reed Horses”), used for traditional artisanal fishing. Enjoy lunch in Huanchaco. In the afternoon, visit the ancient Chan Chan citadel. Enter the Nik-An Palace, located in Chan Chan’s southwestern side, and explore its ceremonial squares, worship places, reservoirs, barns, cemeteries, and more.
Lima - At the end of the day, transfer to the airport. Depart for Lima. Upon arrival, receive assistance and transfer to the hotel.
Day 7: Farewell Day
