Commune 20 offers a wealth of fascinating stories reminiscent of the “gangs, war, and peace” series. Local guides will share their personal experiences in the neighborhood and lead us through streets adorned with graffiti that capture the area’s history. We’ll visit viewpoints that only 1% of the city’s residents have seen, offering a panoramic view of the entire city. Additionally, we’ll pass by iconic landmarks such as the large court, the snake house, and the star viewpoint. Undoubtedly, we’ll experience one of the city’s most authentic neighborhoods.

Awesome & Really Cool Tour With Carlos! - Carlos was amazing on the tour we did in Commune 20 on our trip in Cali! Not only is he a very cool guy but he knew all about the local area and took us to some great spots there too - highly recommend it if you’re ever in town !

Comuna 20 Tour - Carlos was a fantastic guide around Comuna 20. He made us feel safe, welcome in the area and his English was incredible. The story’s be told were so interesting and very fun to hear. One of the best tours I’ve been on in South America.

Great way to spend an afternoon in Cali - Had a great time exploring this community which isn’t so touristy and felt very authentic. Our guide Carlos told us so many interesting stories about the history of the area and the views from the hilltops were unbelievable. Definitely recommend

A Safe, Eye-Opening Way to Experience Siloé’s Transformation - This tour was excellent, such an immersive way to see how this comuna has slowly transformed over time. Our guide Carlos, was knowledgeable, open, and genuinely kind. I loved hearing from people who were born and raised there, and being able to interact, ask questions, and really take it all in.
Even with some of the stories about its past, we felt completely safe and comfortable the entire time. I also appreciated that we weren’t rushed; we had plenty of time to absorb everything.
The comuna is hilly and, although it’s paved, I can see how someone who’s really out of shape might need extra time (or might be tempted to skip it altogether — which would be such a shame!).
I give this tour a solid five stars. My only suggestion would be to collaborate with a couple of the local merchants, maybe include a snack or drink stop that supports them and gives participants another perspective (plus a little break!).
I’m so glad we got to experience this, especially knowing how completely inaccessible this area used to be compared to what it is now.

A tour that changes the look (and deserves to grow)... - I did this tour in Commune 20 with the intention of looking different, and I left with that: an experience that helps to demystify Latin American neighborhoods when you visit them from respect, without morbidity and without prejudice. It feels genuine, street, real life; and you can also notice that there is a commitment to self-sustainability and to build coexistence through sport, art and community.
Just how valuable it is, I think it could be strengthened if the route opened up more spaces to meet other people in the neighborhood: stops designed for conversation, listening to stories in the first person, trying some typical food, having more everyday moments (not just walking and watching). I also wanted a more complete explanation about graffiti and urban art: who makes them, what they mean, what stories they are telling.
And one detail that for Cali is almost inevitable: I wish the sauce were more present. Not only in the photos of the start, but as an experience: even if it is a time to listen to a local group or dance for a while in a safe and communal space. I feel that would help to better show that resistance here is organized and collective, and that the tour expresses the community beyond a single group.
I really encourage you to keep doing this and keep polishing it. Hopefully even this kind of initiative will connect with experiences in other Latin American neighborhoods that are also on the path to leaving violence behind.
