- Cairo - The day begins at 7:00 am with a pickup from your hotel in either Cairo or Giza by our driver. You will be transferred in a private air-conditioned vehicle to Suez, which is located 140 km from Cairo. Suez (Arabic: السويس as-Suways; Egyptian Arabic pronunciation: [esseˈweːs]) is a seaport city with a population of approximately 700,000 as of August 2021. It is situated in northeastern Egypt on the north coast of the Gulf of Suez on the Red Sea, near the southern end of the Suez Canal, and serves as the capital of the Suez Governorate. The city boasts three ports: Suez Port (Port Tewfik), al-Adabiya, and al-Zaytiya, along with extensive port facilities. Together, they form a metropolitan area, primarily located in Africa with a small section in Asia.
Railway lines and highways link the city with Cairo, Port Said, and Ismailia. Suez is home to a petrochemical plant, and its oil refineries have pipelines that transport the finished products to Cairo.
- Suez Canal - The Suez Canal (Egyptian Arabic: قَنَاةُ ٱلسُّوَيْسِ, Qanāt es-Suwais) is a man-made sea-level waterway in Egypt, connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea through the Isthmus of Suez. It separates Africa and Asia, including the Sinai Peninsula from the rest of Egypt. The canal, which is 193.30 kilometers (120.11 miles) long, is a vital trade route between Europe and Asia.
In 1858, Ferdinand de Lesseps established the Suez Canal Company specifically to construct the canal. The construction took place from 1859 to 1869, and the canal officially opened on November 17, 1869. It provides vessels with a direct route between the North Atlantic and northern Indian oceans via the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, bypassing the South Atlantic and southern Indian oceans. This reduces the travel distance from the Arabian Sea to London by approximately 8,900 kilometers (5,500 miles), taking 10 days at 20 knots (37 km/h; 23 mph) or 8 days at 24 knots (44 km/h; 28 mph).
- Green Island - Green Island was a fortress constructed by the British Army, likely by British Troops in Egypt or Rear-Admiral, Alexandria, Royal Navy, to defend the Suez Canal from air and sea attacks during World War II. This waterway held immense strategic importance for Britain at the time. Located three kilometers south of Port Ibrahim and four kilometers south of the city of Suez and the mouth of the Suez Canal, the fortress was built on a stable coral bed and made of reinforced concrete. It featured a one-story building with a large courtyard. At one end of the island, a concrete bridge extended into the water toward a circular five-meter-high tower that housed a radar site and two heavy anti-aircraft machine guns. A wall reinforced with thick rows of barbed wire was constructed at the water’s edge to prevent sea attacks. Heavy machine guns were positioned on the roof, and there were over a dozen machine gun nests.
- Cairo - The tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel in Cairo, and you will return to Cairo around 7:00 pm.
