- National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NEMC) - The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is the sole museum in Egypt that provides a comprehensive overview of the country’s diverse historical periods. It houses over 50,000 artifacts, showcasing Egyptian civilization from prehistoric times to the present.
The highlight of the museum is the Mummies Hall. The world was captivated by the Pharaoh’s Golden Parade, which transported 22 Royal Mummies from the Old Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to their new permanent home at the National Museum of Civilization.
Among the mummies are those of King Ramses II, Queen Hatshepsut, King Thutmose III, and Queen Ahmose Nefertari. The Royal Mummies Hall is specifically designed to exhibit the mummies of ancient Egypt. Its design and underground location aim to give visitors the sensation of walking through the Valley of the Kings, where most of the mummies were originally laid to rest.

National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NEMC) - The Royal Mummies Hall features approximately 150 items, including the mummies and their coffins. For the first time, each mummy is displayed alongside the coffin in which it was discovered. The mummies are now housed in special halls beneath the main hall, representing the “underworld” where the royal mummies were found. Visitors can then explore the main exhibition halls, which present Egyptian civilization from prehistoric times to the present, using a multidisciplinary approach that emphasizes the country’s tangible and intangible heritage. The museum’s collections are displayed in a core permanent exhibition of the principal achievements of Egyptian civilization, with six thematic galleries covering the Dawn of Civilization, The Nile, Writing, State and Society, Material Culture, Beliefs and Thinking, and the Gallery of Royal Mummies.

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities - Following this, visitors will proceed to The Egyptian Museum, which boasts over 250,000 pieces showcasing a rare collection of Egyptian art spanning over 5,000 years. The Tutankhamun room contains treasures, jewelry, and gold that were sealed in his tomb over 3,500 years ago, before its discovery in 1920 during the tomb’s excavation.
