Spiritual Shivers and awe in Cairo’s most ancient Mosque’s. - Last day in Cairo and senses were over loaded with the wonders of the Pyramids, the history and magnitude of the GEM museums and all the treasures it holds and finally the hustle and sensations of Old Cairo: all of it so very alive and colourful. We needed to do one more thing in our last few hours and that was religious Cairo and its famous mosques. No better guide than Hosny to weave us through the alabaster corridors and open his arms and share his knowledge of the oldest mosque, the twin mosques and leave us with a cou de cœur and panoramic view of the city around them. The warmth and friendliness of everyone we met in the mosques restores the faith that religion is about love and respect for something far bigger than us. Being privileged to stand quietly and witness devotion in action and hear the soul singing left us with spiritual shivers and goose bumps. The history speaks for itself. Hosny brought it all to life with his vast knowledge, joy and pride of all the civilisations that make Cairo so unique. We were hungry for more and wanted to taste a freshly baked falafel sandwhich which he found for us and its deliciousness was a perfect full stop to the majesty our eyes had seen. Heart, soul, mind all full - the belly smiled too. Thank you Hosny, for a second, impulsive and perfect end to a few unforgettable days in Cairo!
