It served as Egypt’s government seat and the residence of its rulers for nearly 700 years, from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Positioned on a promontory of the Mokattam hills near central Cairo, it offers a strategic view over the city and dominates the skyline. At its inception, it was one of the most impressive and ambitious military fortification projects of its era.
• Mosque of Muhammad Ali - The Great Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, is located within the Citadel of Cairo in Egypt. It was commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha between 1830 and 1848.
• Coptic Cairo - The tour continues to Coptic Cairo, a section of Old Cairo that includes the Babylon Fortress, the Coptic Museum, the Hanging Church, the Greek Church of St. George, and numerous other Coptic churches and historical sites. • Synagogue Ben Ezra - The Ben Ezra Synagogue, sometimes called the El-Geniza Synagogue or the Synagogue of the Levantines (al-Shamiyin), is located in the Fustat area of Old Cairo, Egypt. According to local legend, it is situated on the site where baby Moses was discovered.
