The first stop is Pompay’s Pillar, constructed in honor of Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century. Originally part of the temple of Serapis, it was once a magnificent structure rivaling the Soma and the Caesarean. Next, guests will drive to visit the Catacombs, the largest Roman cemetery with three levels carved into the rock. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant in Alexandria, followed by a visit to the Qaitbay Citadel, built on the site of the ancient lighthouse of Alexandria, and then to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The tour will also include a view of the Montazah Palace before returning to Cairo.
