Cuesta del Obispo - Starting from the Valle de Lerma, the journey ascends the winding mountain road of Cuesta del Obispo, reaching an elevation of nearly 3,500 meters at the summit of Piedra del Molino.
Parque Nacional Los Cardones - The scenery transforms dramatically from lush green sub-tropical vegetation to the expansive desert plains of Parque Nacional de los Cardones, dotted with candelabra cacti stretching as far as the eye can see.
Los Colorados - The route continues through the stunning deep red terrain of Los Colorados. From Molinos, a rugged mountain road offers breathtaking views at every turn, leading to Colome, a magnificent vineyard nestled like a gem in the hills of the Valles Calchaquies.
Experiencia Colome - This region boasts the highest altitude vineyards in the world, renowned for its Torrontes white wine and red varieties such as Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and the lesser-known Tannat, ideal for the Argentine asado (barbecue). Colome is also cultivating varieties like Sauvignon Blanc, Bonarda, and Pinot Noir. After wine tasting, visitors can explore the James Turrell museum, a captivating study of how light interacts with and deceives human perception.
Return from Colome via Cachi
Iglesia San Pedro Nolasco de los Molinos - There will be time to explore the nearby colonial town of Molinos, visiting the 17th-century church and the hacienda, which was once the residence of the last royalist governor under Spanish rule two centuries ago.
Cachi - Lunch will be enjoyed in the charming mountain town of Cachi, featuring its picturesque cactus-roofed church. There will be an opportunity to visit at least one of the excellent boutique wineries before returning to Salta.
