Another great trip - Typical trip. Great service and food as always. The botanical gardens are always a delight. The coffee shop made a fresh batch of beans and had them delivered to us. I’m very appreciative of the whole experience.

Don’t miss the lunch at Rancho Verano Disteria! - Our group of five visited the Rancho Verano as part of a Tour with the Botanical Gardens on January 23, 2025.. The Lunch was a highlight of our vacation in PV. We shared the kabobs, the shrimp and chicken were great but the beef was WONDERFUL! Not often 5 foodies agree - and this was a win all around. Highly recommend the lunch! The Tequila tasting was fun and generous, we purchased bottles to take home as souvenirs. The do not distribute to the US so we were really excited to find such high quality during a tour!! The Botanical Gardens are lunch and full of trails, plants and birds. The gift store is nice and the lunch (in a past trip) is very good. On this tour we choose to eat at the Rancho Verano Disteria.

Botanical Gardens, but so much more! - The write up does not tell you all you will experience. The Gardens were great, but also the coffee place, the tequila place, the food you bought at the ranch was outstanding, the history and lnowledge of tour guide was great

Beautiful gardens, fine tequila and great food - The gardens have a wide variety of native plants with lots of photo opportunities. There are also bugs, so bring spray or buy some at the gift shop.
The tequila tasting was good with some fine artisanal spirits.
The restaurant at Rancho Verano was excellent. They offered fresh seafood along with chicken and beef.

Don't miss the opportunity!! 🌺 - Wonderful day out, starting with a beautiful drive along the coast. So many places to stop for photographs, great history and stories from our guide, Gustavo and the opportunity to see native birds, butterflies and flowers. The tequila tasting was informative, the tequila quite good and varies a lot. We learned about the process to produce tequila, as well as tasting several samples. The food was great and everyone had a fun time. I highly recommend this day trip.

A safe n pleasant mountain experience! - We had the options to either take a tour (6 hours/$100/pp) or be adventurous and explore on our own. We chose the latter. We're 68 n 74...we took an Uber there and taxi back just for convenience and flexibility. We hiked the River and Jaguar Trail (connected) in about an hour. The river was quite pretty with its giant boulders. Checked out the various display areas. My favorite was the little church and its pet cemetery with a resident peacock who put on quite a show for us!!!
We had an AWESOME lunch there with a great mountain view looking down at the river. Excellent service n food. Try to sit upstairs for the view.
The garden puts on various tours n shows at different times throughout the day if interested.
Tips: But tickets online. Go early! (We were there at 9 am n stayed til 1230 pm). Bring bug repellent or wipes! Hike to the river is steep going down...wear good shoes with traction.
This lil outing is a good break from the city.

Kind of Disappointing (Except for the Gardens!) - I've taken tours in 25+ countries in the past two years. This was the most tourist-y feeling tour out of the 25.
The trip starts at your hotel (or nearby), drives you to a small coffee shop ~30 minutes south of PV, and stops for a brief visit in a tourist trap. Decent priced coffee, but several different people trying to sell you on different products (rugs, pictures with a donkey, etc.)
You then drive to the botanical gardens, which are beautiful and definitely worth a visit. However, the guided experience didn't add much. You could do this on your own via a taxi or Uber for much lower costs, and stay for much longer as a result.
After 1.5 hours at the garden, you drive to a restaurant (not included) and a tequila distillery. The restaurant was fairly expensive for Mexico (600 pesos minimum for 1 person), and you have no choices but to eat lunch there or bring your own snacks.
The tequila portion lasted 20 minutes. 3 minutes of education, the rest for shots. Good tequila, but definitely not a tour of a distillery or very educational.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this tour. I would recommend finding your own transportation to the gardens, though!

Missed, was not told what time zone - I was scheduled to go on this excursion while cruising on the Carnival Panorama. The cruise did not tell us that Puerto Vallarta is an hour ahead of Mazatlan and neither did the tour communications. Please let people know ahead of time what time zone you're in!!!
