• Peles Castle - Once a royal summer retreat, this castle is a highly sought-after tourist destination. This neo-Renaissance marvel was completed after 40 years of meticulous work. Numerous builders, artists, architects, and wood-carvers ensured every corner was adorned with silk rugs, Murano glass, Cordoba leather-covered walls, carved walnut, or polished marble.

Each room boasts a unique style or theme. Visitors can explore a mini-theatre, a Music Room (India), a Turkish Salon, a Great Salon (Italy), a Council Room (Switzerland), a Moor Hall, and much more. The Peles armory showcases over 400 European and Oriental weapons from the 15th to the 19th centuries.

Peles Castle was the first in Europe to have electricity, powered by its own plant. It also featured hot and cold running water, central heating, telegraph, telephone, a small elevator for the royal family, and a central vacuum system from the start. The stained glass roof of the foyer opens mechanically.

The castle’s design was created by the father while in a trance, guided by his daughter’s spirit.
