- Giant’s Causeway - The Giant’s Causeway, a highlight of the North Antrim Coast, is among the most remarkable attractions on the entire island of Ireland. The Causeway is steeped in Irish folklore, which your guide will share during your visit. Witnessing the Giant’s Causeway is awe-inspiring, but experiencing it with the legend of a giant constructing it adds another layer of wonder. The hexagonal rock formations, including features like ‘The Wishing Chair,’ ‘The Camel,’ ‘The Giant’s Foot,’ and the Cliff-Top Path, can be explored during your visit. Entry to the Giant’s Causeway is free, though a shuttle bus from the car park costs £1, or you can walk the route at no charge.
Admission to the Giant’s Causeway is free, but there is a separate fee for the visitor center.
- Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge - Currently closed due to COVID - The Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge, established in 1755, is nearly 265 years old! Originally, it had just one handrail and sparse wooden slats, making it quite unsafe and thrilling for adventurers. The bridge has since been improved for safety while retaining the excitement of crossing. Situated along the North Antrim Coast, the Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge spans approximately 100 feet above the Atlantic Ocean’s waters.
The crossing is often seen as daring and appealing to thrill-seekers due to the bridge’s tendency to sway in the wind and the view below. It’s a fantastic stop and a significant part of the North Antrim Coast to include in the Giant’s Causeway Tour.
- Dunluce Castle - Dunluce Castle is a medieval ruin preserved to showcase the history of the North Coast and the territorial wars of the 15th and 16th centuries. The castle dates back to the 13th century, making it nearly 800 years old! Its preservation allows visitors to experience and appreciate its historical significance. A visit includes a walk around the castle site, offering excellent photo opportunities.
- Ballintoy Harbour - Ballintoy Harbour, known to Game of Thrones fans as the ‘Iron Islands,’ is a stunning location along the North Antrim Coast that attracts thousands of tourists annually. A brief stop at the harbor provides a chance to explore, walk, and take photos. It’s a truly remarkable harbor on a part of the coast that must be experienced firsthand.
- The Dark Hedges - The final stop before returning to Belfast is The Dark Hedges, a famous Game of Thrones filming location for ‘The King’s Road.’ The trees, planted in 1775, create an imposing entrance to the Gracehill House Estate.
Legend has it that the ghost of the Grey Lady moves among the trees. She is said to be the spirit of James Stuart’s daughter or a maid from Gracehill House. This site is becoming a heritage piece in Northern Ireland and is a fantastic spot for Game of Thrones fans and tourists alike!
- Shankill Road - The tour includes a journey through the Shankill estates, stopping at murals, hearing stories, and taking photos of the area. Shankill Road was a significant area during the Troubles for paramilitary activity. Rich in history, it’s a fascinating experience!
- Falls Road - Along Falls Road, multiple murals can be seen. At each mural, the guide will share its story, allowing time for photos and questions. Memorial gardens and estates off Falls Road are also included in the tour’s duration.
- Peace Wall - The Peace Wall has been a major division in Belfast for nearly a century. Erected in the late 1920s, the walls separate Unionist and Nationalist communities. Stretching up to 21 miles, they are mostly in Belfast. The tour includes various intersections where the events of the 1970s and early 2000s are recounted.
The Peace Wall is a popular spot to leave a message of peace for the city. Many have used the walls to convey messages to the communities, and on the tour, you can do the same! Markers are provided.
- Bombay Street - This renowned street witnessed not just a house fire but an entire street burned to the ground in August 1969, with families inside. This area is rich in history, with memorials commemorating those who lost their lives and those who fled their homes.
- 51 Falls Rd - Visit the famous Bobby Sands mural on Falls Road, Belfast, and learn about Bobby’s upbringing, his early years, and his later political life. Bobby and others took extreme measures to combat the abuse of power imposed on them and many other Nationalists during the Troubles.
- Bushmills Distillery - Join a Bushmills whiskey educator to see firsthand how whiskey is crafted at the Distillery. Walk through the living history of Bushmills’ grain-to-glass processes, experiencing the sights and scents from mash tun to pot still to barrel. Conclude your tour in the 1608 bar to taste the result of over 400 years of expertise and innovation.
