- Burdur Museum - Established in 1969, the Burdur Archaeology Museum replaced the previous collection of ancient artifacts that were stored in the Bulguroglu School’s library. Over the years, through archaeological digs at sites such as Hacilar, Kuruçay, Höyücek, Incirhan, Kibyra, Kremna, Bubon, and Sagalassos, the museum has gathered an impressive collection of 70,000 movable exhibits, obtained through confiscations, donations, and purchases. Today, it is recognized as one of Turkey’s most important and wealthy museums.
Upon entering, visitors are welcomed by the stunning dancer frieze, which once adorned the heroon at the upper agora alongside the Antonius Nymphaeum in Sagalassos, prominently displayed on the ground floor. At the entrance, busts of Hadrian and Marcus Aurelius, notable Roman emperors, are displayed, along with individual legs believed to belong to each. These massive statues of the emperors were discovered during excavations in Sagalassos in 2007 and 2008.
- Insuyu Magarasi - Opened to the public in 1965, Insuyu Cave is notable for being the first cave accessible for public exploration. Its pathways extend nearly 600 meters, winding through both natural formations and man-made tunnels, leading to the cave’s expansive main gallery. As visitors navigate the easily accessible main route and its branches, they will encounter a fascinating array of stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and flowstones. Although historical records mention numerous ponds within the cave, the increase in agricultural wells in the area has led to their eventual drying up.
Just outside the cave, there is a restaurant, a picnic area, and a playground. Whether or not Insuyu Cave holds records or cures diabetes, it remains a beautiful destination perfect for families seeking a break along the Istanbul – Antalya highway.
- Sagalassos - Located 7 kilometers north of the Ağlasun District, Sagalassos is situated 1700 meters above sea level on the slopes of Mount Akdağ. During the Roman Imperial Period, it was the leading city in the Pisidia Region. Most of its structures date back to the Roman era. The city was discovered in 1706 by the French explorer Paul Lucas. As visitors ascend through the clouds, the city reveals its layout: at the entrance, residential areas welcome visitors, followed by baths, lime and metal furnaces, a lower marketplace, a fountain, and an odeon. Further up, towards the north, residences line the right side, while significant landmarks such as the theater, the Neon Library, a Hellenistic fountain, a ceramic production center, the central agora, a council building, a church, the heroon, a temple, and the Cladius gate unfold along the path. Its most remarkable feature is the magnificent Antonine Fountain.
