Interesting flavours - The display area is small but interesting, the drink tasting is great. We learned a lot about the different flavours that are available.

Super company with motivated employees: best ginger beer - Very authentic staff who are happy to do their job. The tasting was tip top. Now we as Swiss know where in and at whom the fine ginger beer is made.

Bundaberg Barrel tasting. - We visited the Bundaberg Barrel today. I thought this would be a tour of the factory. It was only a tasting experience. However, the price was good, the tasting was good. The free samples made it worthwhile.

Fun tasting experience at Bundaberg - The tasting experience at Bundaberg was fun and interesting. You get to try all the drinks and learn about each one, including what they’re made from. The groups are quite large and the tasting area can feel a bit crowded, which is the only downside. At the end, you can choose 6 drinks to take with you, which is great, and the brand shop is very nice, with plenty of items to choose from. Overall, a pleasant experience. :)

Average - Average. A local landmark of a location. Locals love the products - not for everyone's tase of course. A grey day "do something" 30 minute experience - but not a major stop.

Makes The Ginger Factory look like Disneyland - We arrived at ‘The Barrel’ with great excitement and anticipation. We love Bundaberg drinks and couldn’t wait to get a glimpse of the magic in action. The building is impressive with its beautiful cylindrical shape. Clearly a lot of thought had gone in to make this a tourists dream. We couldn’t wait to get inside and skipped through the door where we were greeted by a young girl who looked like her pug had just died. Clearly she wasn’t as impressed with fizzy drinks as we are. Nevertheless our mood couldn’t be dampened. She showed us to the wall on the right where we could soak in the magnificent history of this fizzy drinks empire and instructed us to walk through the doors in front of us to enjoy the self guided tour. We opened the doors like Augustus Gloop racing to that chocolate river and were greeted immediately by a treat to our senses. An interactive panel that thrust jets of Bundaberg scents into your nostrils. That was fun and the kids enjoyed guessing the smells. It went downhill from there. We were treated to some video cameras that showed footage inside the factory, but that’s as close we got to the action. Clearly a past incident with an over eager child had made the owners think twice about letting anyone near the production line. We were also treated to some basic facts about the brewing process, coupled with a pretend brewing tank and a fake conveyor belt with some of the magic juice travelling around on loop. Finally we got to the end of the section with a machine showing how it stacks packaged bottles onto pallets. Not the most interesting, but at this point I was more interested in the door in front of us. Surely the next section would give me cause to increase my heartbeat or at least tickle the grey matter. You can imagine the disappointment when we walked through after 7 mins on the tour to find ourselves back in the shop where the overpriced (cheaper in the supermarket) drinks were waiting for our custom. Nevertheless we joined the tasting session where the pugless team member guided us through each drink one thimble at a time before inviting us to to collect our ‘free’ 6 pack. We thanked our host who struggled to even muster a smile, picked a few bottles up and left, dreaming about what could have been. The highlight being the crazy lady next to me during the tasting session who had clearly already been the rum factory and gave me a running commentary on her tasting experience. I left feeling glad that we had driven 3 hours with two kids in the car for this pitiful experience. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t expensive compared to most overpriced attractions but I could have reproduced the whole experience at home with a trip to Spar and a bit of fun innovation in the scent department. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone unless youve got some time and money to waste.
