Legend has it that the city’s origin and name are derived from the Nur fortress, established by Alexander the Great in the 4th century BC. Additionally, the tour includes a visit to the Sarmysh-say tract, a renowned site in Central Asia featuring over 10,000 petroglyphs dating back to the Stone and Bronze Ages, depicting deer and goats in the animal style typical of the Scythian tribes’ art circle (early Iron Age IX-II century BC).
