• Municipality of San Antonio de Areco - San Antonio de Areco is a city located in the northern part of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, serving as the administrative center of the partido of San Antonio de Areco. Situated on the Areco River, it is 113 km (70 mi) from Buenos Aires, the nation’s capital.

Founded in 1730, the city was established under the protection of a chapel inaugurated by José Ruiz de Arellano. It has been designated as a city of historic national interest by the Argentine Government and is renowned as the birthplace of Don Segundo Sombra, the legendary character from the novel by Ricardo Güiraldes. The city hosts the Museo Gauchesco Ricardo Güiraldes. Every November, the city celebrates the Día de la Tradición (Tradition Day) with a gaucho festival. Since 2001, San Antonio de Areco has been a sister city to Laredo, Texas, in the United States.

Just an hour from Buenos Aires, Estancia is a 19th-century Italian-style farmhouse with only nine guest rooms. Guests can engage as much or as little as they like in the life of a working estancia, participating in stock-rearing activities such as milking and cattle driving. The 300-hectare grounds can be explored on foot or, with experienced gauchos, on one of the 38 horses that are part of the working herd. The ranch, also known as ‘Estancia,’ is situated not far from San Antonio de Areco, roughly an hour’s drive from Buenos Aires. This rural village is steeped in a rich history and fascinating gaucho culture, offering everyday visitors an experience they won’t soon forget. Recognizing the value of tourism, the estancia was one of the first in the country to welcome tourists, boasting over 25 years experience entertaining guests from Argentina and around the globe. The ranch is home to upward of 350 Aberdeen Angus cattle and 70 horses, with crops such as soya, corn, and oat occasionally planted, dependent on the season.

Your trip will be facilitated by a driver/guide fluent in English who will share in-depth knowledge about the history of Argentina and Areco Town. The tour will feature a visit to Areco Town, followed by a day at the estancia. The return to Buenos Aires is scheduled for 16:30.
