Gardhur - The Garðar shipwreck lies on the nearby black shore, its salt-eroded iron a rusted orange streak against the lush green landscape.

Raudasandur Beach - After breakfast, arrive at Rauðisandur. This 10 km (6.2 mi) stretch of red and gold sand is a rare Icelandic treasure. Formed from crushed scallop shells, its warm glow stands in striking contrast to the island’s renowned black-sand shores.

Dynjandi (Fjallfoss) - The journey leads to Dynjandi. Resembling a grand, limestone staircase of cascading water, this “layered” masterpiece is the most iconic sight in the Westfjords.

Önundarfjörður Pier (Holt í Önundarfirði) - Next: Önundarfjörður. Walking its simple wooden pier, the white sand and bright teal water evoke the tropics—until the towering Arctic mountains remind you of your true location.

Bolafjall - The road climbs to Bolafjall, where a glass-and-steel platform extends into the sky. At 636 m high, the land simply falls away, leaving you suspended between the rugged Westfjords and the endless Arctic horizon.

Isafjordur - Finally, Ísafjörður. Although it’s the region’s largest town, it feels intimate with only 1,600 residents. Surrounded by massive peaks and the ocean, its compact streets are ideal for a twilight stroll.
