One of a kind experience - This is a beautiful old bath house. I felt like I was at a Palace. There are many different hot and cold tubs to enjoy. We really liked the heated outdoor pool with the whirlpool in the center that you can float around in and have a blast doing it. The biggest outdoor pool was closed until May 2026 for refurbishment but all the other pools were open. We had a great time!
When I got back to my locker I noticed my shoes were missing. I had not locked my locker properly and was devastated as I only had one pair of walking shoes for my vacation that just started. I reported it to the attendant and she made my day by getting my shoes for me. She was afraid they may be taken so she put them safely away in the back for me. She is my guardian angel!! What a kind young lady and so thoughtful and caring for me a stranger. She saved me a huge cost and headache. I have to wear special shoes that would have been near impossible to replace on my vacation. Yes there are angels on this Earth and she is one of them. I wish I had gotten her name. She is my hero.
If you go you will have a great time but remember to make sure you lock your locker properly, not like I did.

Pricey but worth it. - Seemed quite expensive at the outset but wort it in my opinion. Weather the waters are healing or not its a truely special experience. Snow on the ground made the 38degree waters even more special. Top tip, book the cabin so you can leave your belongings and maybe even take a picnic if the weather is warm. Great experience can't wait to visit again.

Worth a visit - Only one outdoor pool was open, but it didn't spoil it. We went on a Sunday, so it was probably busier than a weekday.
I would recommend getting a changing room. They are small but you can leave your clothes and valuables in there and not have to worry.
There were lots of indoor pools, and we didn't see all of them. A few were a bit 'tired' and in need of some tlc. The saunas were very busy, and I didn't want to be that close to strangers 😕.
Definitely recommend taking flip flops/sliders. Otherwise, you'll have to purchase them. Limited choice of refreshments, just one eatery that we found.
We enjoyed our day.

Worth a visit if you are looking for a self directed thermal bath experience, but don't expect much pampering. - A visit to this thermal bath was part of an optional package as part of the Viking Riverboat cruise. Along with other reviews, bringing your own towel, flip-flops, robe, water, etc is a good idea. Unsure.if shampoo or any soaps arenallowed, but those are not provided in the many showering areas that are available.
Our visit included a changing "cabin" (small dressing and storage area), to which only the person having rented the space has access. One area on property is clothing optional.
Multiple inside pools inside of differing temperatures, including sauna and cold water plunge. Massive outdoor pool. Certain times of year are considered peak times, including the week that we were here (October 24th), which coincided with a national holiday on 10/23.
This is a classic, very old but well maintained historic and architecturally interesting site. If a visitor is prepped right, this can be an enjoyable experience.
Reason for 4 Star rating - we didn't feel particularly welcomed, but didn't expect to be pampered by the staff either.

A Day at the Historic Baths of Budapest - We were here on February 20, 2026.
I recommend making your ticket directly on site, as you save money.
We paid 36€ each with private cabin x all day.
I highly recommend the private cabin where you can leave all your personal belongings, bag etc..
The spas are beautiful , externally nothing to say .
Characteristics and much lived.
The bottom of the pool was not spotless already at 8 am.... but the water was warm and very pleasant , the tragedy was getting out of the water with 1 degree outside 😳😳😳😳😅😅😅.
Tragic the first time, devastating the other exits because the bathrobe
It was no longer dry and Soaked
and icy given the temperatures🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Anyway an experience to do absolutely.
We had a good time.
The indoor pools ,hot but the water was absolutely not clean as they floated some remnants of I don't know what 😅😅😅😅😅😅.
In the bathrooms there are no hairdryers.
Only at the exit of the outdoor pools there are two air vents that actually do not make much hot air.... say almost warm 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅. I have to say that they had a centrifuge that could be used to wring the costumes before storing them in the bag... The bathrooms were clean... at 8 am.
I recommend going early in the morning as there are very few people , the afternoon gets crowded .
Also in the bar / restaurant inside the spa itself, we took an espresso , a latte and a brioche for the modest amount of € 16 including tip 😅😅😅😅😅😅 a bleed in full face 😅😅😅😅😅😅 A great trap for tourists in my opinion ... not even in Venice 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅.Never again!!!
Apart from that, I repeat experience to do absolutely when visiting Budapest.
Easy to reach by public transport... the 72 trolleybus stops right in front of the spa.
Budapest is beautiful but overpriced and full of tourist traps.

Give it a miss - it’s an awful experience ! - Awful experience - overcrowded, hygiene issues, several pools closed and the attitudes of the majority of staff we encountered was very poor.
We paid for a private spa experience which came with a private room, with drinks and nibbles together with robes and slippers. It was regrettable that upon exiting the private area, we were greeted by overcrowded baths packed full of people who looked too ill to be anywhere else other than a hospital.
Yes, I accept that it would have been grand in it’s heyday, but those days are long gone, and it’s now a teeth grinding and head shaking experience in wondering why on earth people flock here in their droves.
I can’t fully explain how completely underwhelmed we were and it was a definite low point of our fabulous visit to Budapest.

Tired and in need of update - Visited the spa with my husband for first time today. Overall impression was clean but very dated. We bought the thalisens package where we got our own room and shower for duration of our stay (4hrs) we had the option of paying extra to stay alday. But we felt it wasn’t worth paying extra. There is many pools indoors and outside all different temps but no jacuzzi. We sat in an aromatherapy room, 2 saunas which were very hot and then went for a couples massage the best bit. I found very relaxing.
Around the outside pools there were many sun beds, so there was no problem sitting down and sunbathing. We went up to the 2nd floor to find 2 small outdoor seating areas and indoor hanging chairs with a coffee shop. This was the only one we found as all outdoor kiosks were closed.
What could be done to make the stay better? Offer larger gowns we were given XXL and they didn’t go round us. I’m only a size 18
Offer decent sparkling wine and maybe a beer choice for men? Extend the 4hr slot to 5 hrs because this includes getting showered and changed afterwards. 45 min massage and 30-40 min to get showered and changed only leaves an hr for pools.
The building is absolutely beautiful but in need of a major update. Some of the pools we didn’t go in because they didn’t look clean. There are other thermal baths in Budapest that look far more nicer.
The staff were really nice and welcoming

Mold and unpleasant smells - I was very disappointed by my experience in these baths. From the entrance, a musty and withdrawn smell is very present. It feels like it’s just masked with essential oils, but that doesn’t solve the problem and makes the atmosphere quite unpleasant.
There are many pools, but the water doesn’t give the impression of cleanliness — the bottom looks dirty in places, which doesn’t help relax.
The general atmosphere does not promote relaxation either. In particular, I have seen men put their heads underwater with glasses to look at women, which makes them uncomfortable and totally breaks the idea of a place of well-being.
In the end, apart from a large amount of water-filled basins and mould on the ceilings, there is no real sense of relaxation, especially because of the smells and atmosphere. For me, these baths have little to offer in terms of well-being.

NO Towels - Website says you can hire towels ....
You cannot .... although you can buy overpriced ones.
As someone who visited whilst travelling, we picked these baths because it said (when u bought your ticket online) you could hire them.
The very rude woman just said the website is wrong...... yeah very wrong.
