- Szabadság tér - Known as one of the most elegant squares in the city center, Szabadság tér’s vast size is a legacy of the Habsburg era, when the fortress-like Újépület stood here. This tranquil, spacious green area is an ideal spot for those seeking peace in a delightful environment.
- Kossuth Lajos Square - The tour will visit Kossuth Square, home to the Hungarian Parliament. During the 1956 revolution, a firefight erupted in front of the Parliament building, and the exact number of demonstrators who died remains unknown. The crowd at Kossuth Square was a mix of civilian protesters, including men, women, children, and the elderly. The news of the massacre significantly contributed to the country’s and Budapest’s push towards revolution and armed struggle.
- Hungarian Parliament Building - Renamed in 1927 in honor of Lajos Kossuth, the square was previously known by several names, including Parliament Square. Facing the parliament building are the Museum of Ethnography and the Ministry of Agriculture.
- March 15 Square (Március 15 tér) - The Petőfi Statue and Március 15 Square are located at the foot of Erzsébet Bridge, in front of Budapest’s oldest church. Thanks to a renovation in 2011, it has become a popular social hub, attracting both locals and tourists.
- Corvin Mozi - Situated in the southeast part of Budapest, Corvin köz was a major resistance center in 1956, where local youths fought the invading Russians with Molotov cocktails and weapons taken from soldiers to combat Soviet tanks. The tour will examine the remnants of these battles and discuss the 1956 invasion and its consequences.
- Liberty Bridge (Szabadság híd) - The tour will cross one of Budapest’s most beautiful bridges to reach the base of the iconic Gellért Hill, leading to the next stop.
- Szent Gellért Square - St. Gellért Square is one of Buda’s most remarkable squares, named after Bishop St. Gellért, also known as the Martyr for Hungarian Christendom. From here, there is an excellent view of the Liberty Statue, erected in 1947 to commemorate the Soviet liberation of Hungary.
