Bucharest - Sinaia - Bran - Brasov - Sighisoara

Triumph Arch (Arcul de Triumf) - On the first day, guests will be picked up from their accommodation in Bucharest and driven towards the enchanting region of Transylvania.

Peles Castle - The initial stop will be at the grand and splendid Peles Castle. Constructed by Romania’s royal family in the 19th century, this palace showcases the German Renaissance style of decoration from that era.

Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) - The following destination is Bran Castle, also known as Dracula’s Castle. This impressive structure overlooks a valley from a strategic location and was initially built as a fortress on the former border between Wallachia and Transylvania. Together, visitors will explore the link between the legendary ruler, Vlad the Impaler, and the notorious vampire.

Brasov Historical Center - In the afternoon, the journey continues to the city of Brasov, which maintains its medieval allure through its well-preserved historical center. The walking tour of this charming town begins at the main square, where visitors can admire the old City Hall with its clock tower, the monumental Gothic Black Church, the fortifications, the two watch towers on the hill, the craftsmen guilds, and the narrowest street in Europe.

Centrul Istoric Sighisoara - As evening approaches, the tour reaches Sighisoara, where guests will be accommodated.

Sighisoara - Viscri - Biertan - Sibiu

Centrul Istoric Sighisoara - After breakfast, a walking tour of the medieval citadel of Sighisoara is planned. This is one of the few continuously inhabited citadels in Europe and the birthplace of the legendary Vlad Dracula. Visitors will see his house and then climb to the top of the 500-year-old clock tower for a stunning view of the town.

Viscri Fortified Church - Following the Sighisoara tour, the journey proceeds to the fortified church in the traditional Saxon village of Viscri. Viscri is one of the best-preserved Saxon villages where time seems to have stood still. For those interested, there is an optional visit to the local Blacksmith within a traditional Gypsy family (at an additional cost of 5 Euro/person) and a horse and cart ride through the village (costing 10 Euro/person), or even a traditional lunch in the village (at one’s own expense).

Biertan Fortified Church - In the afternoon, the tour reaches Biertan Fortified Church. Visitors can explore the interior and learn the story behind one of Transylvania’s most renowned fortified churches.

Sibiu Tourist Information Center - The final stop is Sibiu, also known as Hermannstadt. This is the center of the German community in Romania, where German Saxons have resided for over 800 years. A former European Capital of Culture, Sibiu offers many remarkable sights from its time as a citadel: the Great Square, the Brukenthal Museum, and the infamous Bridge of Lies.

Sibiu - Corvin Castle - Alba Iulia - Sibiu

Castelul Corvinilor - The morning begins with a visit to Corvin Castle. This well-preserved medieval castle provides insight into Transylvanian history. The guide will share more about the history of this fascinating place.

Cetatea Alba Iulia - After visiting Corvin Castle, the tour heads to Alba Iulia, the city where the unification of Romania was signed. Guests can explore the Roman and medieval streets to learn about the city’s culture and history.

Sibiu- Transfagarasan Road/ Olt River Valley Road - Bucharest

Transfagarasan Highway - For those traveling between July and October, the return journey will take the Transfagarasan road, ascending the Carpathian Mountains for a breathtaking view over Transylvania. This road is considered one of Europe’s most spectacular, having been named the “best road in the world” by Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson, a renowned former co-presenter of UK TV.

For travel during other times of the year, the Olt Valley road will be used for the return to Bucharest. Along the way, there will be a stop at Cozia Monastery, the burial site of Mircea the Elder, the grandfather of Vlad Dracula.

The tour concludes with an afternoon arrival in Bucharest.
