Great trip and opportunity to explore a new area. - Great trip on a cold and snowy day. Serban was an excellent guide and driver. He was quite knowledgeable and pointed out numerous areas on the ride down and back up. He was very open to what the small group wanted to do and made accommodations given it was winter time and snowy and one of the stops was closed. It was a long day, but that is just due to traffic and roads. Overall, I would highly recommend. The monasteries/ churches were interesting but the town of Veliko Tarnovo was nice, even though it was so cold.

Amazing Day Trip to Northern Bulgaria with Șerban and Peter - I had the most incredible day trip to Northern Bulgaria, all thanks to our amazing guide, Șerban, and our driver, Peter. From the start, Șerban made everything feel super relaxed and fun. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, sharing interesting facts and stories about the places we visited, but never in a way that felt too much or overwhelming. It felt more like exploring with a friend who really knows the area. Peter, our driver, was also fantastic. He navigated the roads smoothly and safely. The van was always clean and spacious, so we had a lot of room to stretch out.

Uncomfortable tour - Uncomfortable and disappointing experience overall. The tour felt less like a guided experience and more like being loosely chaperoned across the border with very little added value. The tour operator, Sęrban, made several comments that came across as racist and made multiple people of color in the group visibly uncomfortable. Instead of creating a welcoming or respectful environment, his remarks created tension and awkwardness throughout the day. He was also personally rude to me, calling me a child because I look young, which was unnecessary, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I understand humor can vary culturally, but this did not feel like humor—it felt dismissive and insulting. There was little historical or cultural insight provided, and the organization felt minimal. For the price and time commitment, I expected a more informative, respectful, and inclusive experience. I would not recommend this tour to travelers who value professionalism, cultural sensitivity, or meaningful guidance. Especially for solo travelers of color.
