Best Tour in the Puerto Vallarta and Surrounding Areas! - This is our third time to take a Human Connections tour. Obviously, we think this is well worth the time and highly recommend it to travelers of all ages. You will never see local vendors in the same light because you will gain insight into their struggles and their persistence in overcoming adversity. The tour guide is extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful in translating. For sure, we will go on another tour next year!

Best Tour Ever! - This was far the best cultural tour that I've been on. Maurico, our tour guide was so personable and has a great wealth of knowledge of Mexican culture and history. The family businesses we visited were so interesting and we ended the day with the most authentic and delicious Mexican lunch. There was no pressure to buy from the artisans as they are paid well by Human Connections. As a result this tour was elevated to a relaxed genuine and engaging experience. This tour company truly amplifies the human connections through these artisans stories. I plan to take in all of their day tours. Cynthia Winnipeg, Canada

Looking beyond the beach vendor - When we visit the PV area, we look forward to participating in a variety of the experiences that are offered to get a glimpse of another culture, whether it be a cooking class, walking taco tour or visiting a nearby village. The description for the Bucerias Cultural Day tour immediately caught our attention by the promise of meeting actual families and learning about their history and culture. Our guide, Mauricio, was clearly passionate about the mission of Human Connections as well as deeply knowledgeable of his diverse Mexican culture and history. You could see his “human connection” with the people we met on this tour through his interactions with them as well as his excitement to share their stories. Leo was our first stop where we learned of her family and culture in a small indigenous village before she migrated to Bucerias. Bring tissue as she tells of her challenging youth, very early motherhood and triumphant rise above what would seem impossible odds. She serves as a courageous model and inspiration to not only the women and girls in her community but also the women (and men) who are privileged to hear her story. Her beadwork and jewelry are beautiful, but watching her work, understanding the time and detail of each piece, gave us a deeper understanding of the value of her finished product. Our second stop was Roberto, a weaver from Oaxaca who now lives with his family in Bucerias. He learned his craft starting as a child watching his elders weave the many designs and patterns into beautiful blankets and mats. He described what each of the patterns meant to his people, the mountains, diamonds and butterflies. He also shared with us the variety of wool colors he uses as well as how they use plants and insects to dye the multiple tones of color found in the weaving. We will never look at another blanket or mat in the market the same. Our final stop was a family that taught us how to create a variety of delicious, yet simple, salsas using various chilies, tomatillo, onion and garlic and changing the flavor by roasting or keeping fresh. The salsas were a prelude to a very tasty mole with beef and mushrooms unlike any we’ve had before. Barley water was our beverage which was perfect for putting out that little bit of picante from the salsa. The meal was complete after a dessert of rice pudding. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a more intimate understanding of Mexican culture. We would also like to give a shout out to Paco who very kindly brought us to our tour location as we struggled with public transportation. We are slowly getting better!

A must do tour - What an awesome tour. We met at the restaurant, where we had a coffee, introduced ourselves, then discussed Human Connections, and what their goal is with these tours. Our first stop was with “Leo, she told us her story then let us do some beadwork which we were able to keep. She had numerous pieces in her shop for sale, some made by her, and some by other single moms in the area. Next we went to a wood worker’s house where he showed us how he does his craft, and explained how he came to be in Bucerias. And last we stopped for an amazing Mexican meal at a family home. It was the best salsa and fish tacos I have ever had. I would definitely recommend this tour. Mauricio was a fantastic tour guide.

THIS is Bucerias! - This is one of the BEST tours I have EVER taken! The artisans and chefs taught so much more than their craft! We learned about their history and families. And we were able to try our hand at their skills. There were products for sale...but NO push to purchase. Human Connections does not get a commission from the sales. The guide Maurício was so knowledgeable, fun and friendly. He obviously had a very good relationship with the people presenting. They truly seem like a family proud of their heritage! I will take more tours!

Cultural Tour - Excellent Culteral tour with Human Connections . Our guide, Mauricio, was fabulous and our 3 hosts were heartfelt and genuine as they shared their stories with us. The traditional lunch we shared was delicious and making our salsa and tomatio sauce was great. Kudos to Human Connections and their partners. Job well done.

One tour you should not miss!! - Fantastic! Mauricio was a wonderful tour guide, you can see his passion when he speaks to the artisans and his translations were impeccable. We took our 16 year old grandson…such a good age to understand the plight of the artisans as well to enjoy the crafting and food, he especially loved making the salsa!!! It was a small group which made the tour more personal. Thank you to our tour companions, our driver and a HUGE thank you to Mauricio! This is our 2nd time on a Human Connections tour and we look forward to more!!

Artisanal Treasures of Bucerías: A Cultural Tour with Community Impact - If you’re looking for a truly immersive cultural experience in Bucerias, this tour is an absolute must! From start to finish, it was a beautifully curated journey into the artisanal heart of this charming town. Our local guide, Mauricio Dominguez, was fantastic—fluent in both the language and the culture, he bridged the gap between us and the incredibly talented artisans we met along the way. Without their insight and translation skills, we would have missed out on so much of the richness and depth of these interactions. Meeting the artisans and hearing their stories firsthand was an unforgettable experience. These are people you wouldn’t typically have access to, and the opportunity to connect with them on such a personal level felt incredibly special. It’s clear that this tour is about more than just sightseeing—it’s about fostering real connections and supporting the community. I loved knowing that our tour fees went directly back into Bucerias, making our visit feel impactful and meaningful. The cherry on top was the traditional lunch, which was absolutely delicious. Sharing a meal together in such a welcoming atmosphere added a warm, communal touch to an already perfect day. This tour offers so much more than a typical travel experience—it’s an invitation to truly see, learn, and give back. Highly recommended!
