Constructed in the Brabantine Late Gothic style between 1448 and 1469, it is renowned for its intricate, lace-like architectural details.
• Groot Begijnhof - The Groot Begijnhof of Leuven is a beautifully preserved beguinage and fully restored historical district featuring numerous streets in the southern part of downtown Leuven. Spanning approximately 3 hectares, with around 300 apartments in nearly 100 houses, it is one of the largest surviving beguinages in the Low Countries. It extends across both sides of the river Dijle, which divides into two canals within the beguinage, creating an island. Three bridges link the sections of the beguinage. The entire area is owned by the University of Leuven and serves as a campus, primarily for housing academics.
