Comedy on water: the legendary Bruges Boat Tour - There are a few companies offering boat tours in Bruges, but we were lucky— I think the universe was conspiring in our favor— to have the funniest experience ever, all thanks to our captain of the company Boottocht Brugge. A hilarious, incredibly knowledgeable guy who spoke more foreign languages than Google Translate can remember… and all of them flawlessly. The moment we stepped on the boat, we knew this wouldn’t be just any ordinary sightseeing tour. His energy and humor turned what should have been a 30-minute ride into… 30 seconds (at least it felt that way). He guided us through the city’s history, its old buildings, and even the traditional crafts with jokes, anecdotes, and unexpected quips—stuff you’d otherwise only read on boring museum panels. In short: if you find yourself in Bruges and want to laugh, learn a thing or two, and feel like you’re in a water-based sitcom, don’t miss a tour with this legendary captain. Guaranteed, you’ll leave smiling.

When in Bruges do this tour! - Our tour guide Mimi was fabulous and brimming with knowledge she was excited to share. The boat drive was a lovely interlude to admire private terraces. We always love learning about the place we’re in so highly recommend this tour.

Lovely day in Bruge spent with like minded guests. - A beautiful walk through Bruge with our engaging guide, Ann. She was born and raised in Bruge. She shared interesting stories of different aspects of Bruge. The boat ride was scenic and serene.

Avoid City Tours Belgium - The itinerary of the tour including the canal boat tour is what attracted us to book this tour. The canal boat tour was informative and enjoyable. Our walking tour guide was very difficult to hear, understand his commentary and often rambled. He also didn’t cover schedule sites on the itinerary. Very disappointing since we were so looking forward to visiting Bruges. There were 2 other guides in addition to our guide conducting the English tours and I wish we had switched to another group because I sensed within minutes of the tour starting that it wasn’t going to be satisfactory. He also ran 30 minutes long on the tour. Throughout this trip we’ve done several Viator tours and have been pleased. This one I fortunately was well-below expectations.

Avoid the walking tour. - We did not see what the tour said we would see. Our guide was not good-very soft spoken, dry, and used old pictures to further explain what we were seeing. On the other hand, the boat tour was very good and our guide on that tour was excellent. We learned much more in 1/2 hour on the boat tour than on the 1 1/2 hour walking tour. I would not recommend the walking tour, only the boat tour.
