Magura - Situated within the Piatra Craiului National Park Mountains in the Southern Carpathians, the villages of Pestera and Magura provide an authentic experience of rural Romanian life. The full-day tour begins in central Brașov, where participants meet their local guide and board a private vehicle for a 45-minute journey to the village. Along the way, participants can inform the guide of any specific interests to tailor the day’s itinerary.
Learn about the history of the villages, where traditional industries like sheep farming and cheese making are still practiced by many residents. Visit the Bat Cave for about 10 minutes. Then, embark on a moderate guided hike through the hills and meadows of Magura village for 3 to 4 hours. Participants can inform the guide if they prefer a longer or shorter hike and proceed at a comfortable pace. -
Pestera - Stop by the oldest guest house in the National Park.
After building up an appetite, enjoy a hearty lunch featuring simple Romanian cuisine made from local farm-fresh ingredients, including eggs, vegetables, and pork. Beer or wine can be purchased to complement the meal. From the guest house, take a walk through Pestera Village back to the car, which takes about 1 hour. Curved mountain range - Beautiful route through the Romanian mountain landscape, and the rural wooden older mountain homes of Transsalvania, with the snowy peaks.

Amazing day hiking in Piatra Craiului National Park!! - My partner and I spent the day with our guide Isti today and we had the most amazing day!! The mountains were covered in heavy snow which made the hike more challenging, but Isti was well prepared with hiking equipment for us to use and was caring and patient throughout the hike. He was also highly experienced and knowledgeable. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and it was wonderful to see the countryside and village life in Transylvania. Our lunch at the guest house was a delicious end to our day, with a short walk back to the car to finish. You must experience this day for yourself!

A wonderful day in the Romanian countryside! - Andreea was a wonderful guide and our whole family (2 adults and 2 kids ages 8 and 10) enjoyed this tour. We added on the tour of Bran castle which was fun and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Then we hiked around the castle, went out for lunch and then hiked through a ravine in the national park. The whole time, Andreea told us about Romanian culture and history. She did a great job of making the tour fun and interesting for both the adults and kids. She even offered to bring her dogs on the hike and I'm so glad she did, as it kept the kids much more engaged in hiking.

A wonderful day tour - This was a wonderful tour out in the mountains and a very enjoyable walk between villages, made even more incredible by the changing leaves. Charlie was a great guide and we lucked out with warm weather. Lunch was plentiful and accommodating to vegetarians. A really perfect way to spend a day from Brasov experiencing the beautiful Romanian countryside. 100% recommend!

An Absolutely Perfect Day Trip Experience - I just returned from an amazing Small-Group Day Trip in Romanian Authentic Mountain Villages from Brasov with an exceptional guide named Bogdan. He was not only highly professional and knowledgeable about Romanian history, but also an incredibly warm and pleasant person.
What impressed me most was his extensive knowledge of the country's history and his deep familiarity with all the sites we visited. He brought every village and story to life, turning each stop into a fascinating experience.
Bogdan's flexibility and patience were outstanding - he adapted perfectly to my pace, and I never felt rushed or pressured. The transitions between villages were comfortable and tailored to my needs, and he always prioritized my comfort above all else.
Beyond his professionalism, his warm and friendly personality made the tour feel personal and special. I discovered that he's also a mountain climbing guide, rock climbing instructor, and paragliding guide - which made our conversations even more interesting as he shared captivating stories from his various adventures.
Traveling with Bogdan was an absolute pleasure, and I highly recommend him to anyone considering this day trip. He truly made this experience unforgettable!
