- Mammoth Hot Springs - Visitors can explore the boardwalks surrounding Mammoth Hot Springs, a significant thermal feature situated over a vast limestone deposit. The superheated water from the volcano beneath Yellowstone dissolves the limestone and redeposits it on the surface as travertine limestone, creating turquoise pools and unique terraces.

In Dec through March Yellowstone wolves become highly viewable and often be seen challenging elk and Bison in Yellowstones famous Lamar Valley. In late Winter Yellowstone starts to comes to life as the temperature gets slightly warmer, the snow starts to melt, grizzly bears start to wake up from a long hibernation. March in Yellowstone is the best time of the season to view the parks population of grizzly bears fighting against wolves for dominance of food resources and attempt to take over the landscape.
