Arrival and First Impressions

As the plane touched down at Victoria Falls Airport, I felt a familiar thrill of anticipation. Africa has always held a special place in my heart, and this trip promised to be another unforgettable adventure. I was greeted by Norman and Simba, our guides for the journey, who welcomed us with open arms. Their warmth and enthusiasm were infectious, setting the tone for what would be an extraordinary experience.

The next morning, we embarked on a walking tour of Victoria Falls. Despite the falls being low on water, the experience was nothing short of captivating. Our guide shared fascinating insights into the history and geology of the falls, enhancing the breathtaking views from various vantage points. The sound of the cascading water, even at its reduced flow, was a powerful reminder of nature’s majesty.

After the tour, we crossed the border into Botswana, where Norman’s friendly demeanor and engaging stories made the journey fly by. Along the way, we were treated to the sight of a mother elephant and her calf feeding by the roadside—a magical moment that set the stage for the wildlife encounters to come.

The Thrill of the Safari

Our afternoon boat safari on the Chobe River was a highlight of the trip. As we glided along the water, elephants approached the banks, their massive forms silhouetted against the setting sun. Hippos lounged lazily along the shores, occasionally grunting in contentment. The scenery was stunning, a perfect blend of tranquility and raw beauty.

Dinner that evening was a delightful affair, shared with Norman and Simba. Their passion for the region and its wildlife was evident in every story they told. The following day was dedicated to two safari trips, one in the morning and another in the afternoon. On our final day, we indulged in an additional excursion to Devil’s Pool, expertly organized by the team. Sitting on the edge of a waterfall, with the Zambezi River rushing beneath us, was an exhilarating experience that few can claim. It was a fitting climax to our adventure, a moment of pure adrenaline and wonder.

We concluded our journey with a leisurely lunch at Baines restaurant, overlooking the Zambezi. The view was spectacular, a serene backdrop for our farewell to Norman, whose positivity and excitement had been a constant source of joy throughout the trip.
