Outstanding Tour - Outstanding historical tour. Our guide Dana was extremely knowledgeable, and took his time educating our group on the history behind each stop location and monument. This was a very educational experience.

Best tour ever! Dana is infectious with his love and enthusiasm for history, and especially Boston’s part in it. - This tour was phenomenal! Our tour guide Dana is a retired history teacher, and I wish that every student would have a teacher like him. He brings history to life with enthusiasm, deep knowledge of the local history, undergirded by that of the country as a whole (and even with short references to history around the world). The people and places he told us about came to life, and I will never look at Boston in the same way again, especially Beacon Hill! Dana was warm and personable, eager to share the intertwining stories of many people who were so crucial in the years leading up to and into the Civil War. As he himself said, there were not “good” or “evil” people, yet there were many clashes, and as we know, loss of too many lives, too. This was the most engaging tour I have ever taken, and time seemed to fly!

Wow - I stayed an extra day in Boston so I could do this tour. My expectations were high. At the end of the tour my husband said this was the best tour we have ever been on. I agree. Pro tip: do not make plans immediately afterward because Dana S. will go long. And you will not want to miss a minute of it. Wow.

A must-do in downtown Boston - One of the best walking tours I've ever been on. Dana is the man! In 6 square blocks he took us through the first emancipated people to the end of the civil war in the most fascinating way possible. Beacon Hill from the 1780s through the 1860s was an incredible quirk of history, and it's a story you will never hear about anywhere else. The way two completely different groups could come together to inspire a national movement was such an unreal and moving story, and there was no one better to tell it than our guide Dana. He was enthusiastic, passionate, and he told it in a way where you hung on every word. He invited every question and told the brutal (but often triumphant) history in a real, human way. You'd be laughing at his jokes one minute and sobbing at the injustices he was speaking about the next. Although it was scheduled for about 2 and a half hours, our group was flexible and stayed long, we did nearly 4 hours. I could have listened for another 10. Truly fascinating stuff, and it was just wonderfully told. An absolute must for anyone visiting Boston
