Borovets, Bulgaria’s most historic winter resort, provides outstanding opportunities for ski touring. This thrilling winter sport enables skiers to enjoy both on-piste and off-piste skiing, offering greater independence from ski lifts. Touring skis are distinctive because they allow for both downhill skiing and uphill climbing. The downhill experience closely resembles alpine skiing. For climbing, special ‘skins’ are affixed to the bottom of the skis to prevent backward sliding.
