During the itinerary, participants will wander through the charming cobbled streets of the picturesque medieval village of Saint-Emilion. The guide will share numerous anecdotes and tales from its rich and eventful history. Discover how religious practices and viticulture intertwine and complement each other. Experience the history of France, which has elevated this village to an exceptional site recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
While strolling through the village, visitors can pause at one of the many wine merchant stalls to purchase bottles from their favorite châteaux.
- Eglise Monolithe de Saint-Emilion - Located in the heart of the city, this monolithic church is a reminder of the city’s religious activity during the Middle Ages and captivates with its unique design. It reveals itself to visitors with a 68-meter-high bell tower, then subtly hides behind the elegance of three façade openings and a frequently closed Gothic portal. The church is as intriguing as it is delicate!
- L’Envers du Décor - As the first historic wine bar in Saint-Emilion, L’Envers du Décor was established in 1987 by François des Ligneris and was taken over in February 2017 by the Perse family, owners of Château Pavie and the Inn de Pavia. Over the years, L’Envers du Décor, the iconic restaurant of Saint-Emilion, has become a must-visit spot in the village.
The restaurant name is provided as an example. The selected restaurant may vary depending on availability on that day. The chosen restaurant will offer comparable services.
- Chateau de Sales - Château de Sales is situated northwest of the Pomerol appellation. With 47.60 hectares of vines on the 90-hectare estate, it boasts the largest vineyard in the AOC Pomerol. The property boundaries have remained largely unchanged since 1578, with only three hectares lost during the revolution.
