Great Experience - It was a great experience with Julie. You can do a St Emilion tour by yourself but you need a guided tour for Medoc region as Chateaus are not close to each others. Rustic Wines though everything for you and planned it very well.

Yay to Rustic Vines! - We enjoyed a wonderful day out on the Rustic Vines tour with Julie and one other couple in our small group of 4. Julie was a gracious and informative guide who allowed us time to experience all the beauty of the Medoc region. Our tour began at
11am. The meeting place was a 10 minute and convenient walk to our cruise ship! We loaded up into a comfy Mercedes Benz van that shuttled us to Medoc. Julie supplied us with history, wine and food lessons as we journeyed our way to the left bank.
The hand selected wineries were all terrific but each a bit different. All three tastings were either paired with delicious cheeses, rustic bread, charcuterie and lastly chocolates!
It was a perfect way to spend the day learning, tasting and socializing with such gracious hosts at the wineries, our guide and our fellow travelers. I would absolutely recommend taking this tour before booking an excursion on the cruise ship. So worth it and most memorable. Thank you Julie for a wonderful experience!

Great tour with Rustic Vines and Ismael! - We had a great trip to Medic with Ismael! We went to 3 different wineries. At the first one we had a cheese pairing. At the second we had charcuterie. And at the last we had a chocolate pairing. Ismael is super funny and very knowledgeable about the wines. We highly recommend this company and this tour.

Beautiful Ride through French Countryside - This was a fantastic tour in a region that we knew little about. We had visited other regions surrounding Bordeaux but knew nothing about the Medoc wines. We stopped at 3 Chateaus traveling through the countryside, learned about what makes the wines of this region so unique including climate, soil, care of the grapes, proximity to the water etc. We had wine tasting and charcuterie at each vineyard. Our guides at each chateau were excellent, taking us through the winery and explaining their process; it was impressive and so very modern! There were strict wine making rules that were explained; these wines were exceptional. Our driver/ Viator guide spoke excellent English throughout the journey. It was our last day and a highlight of our trip to Bordeaux.

Wonderful experience - The chateaux are very professional and the visits are sensational. We were even lucky to taste a 1971 wine.
The roads are adjacent and this gives an extra charm to the experience. Indicate closed eyes.

Informative, fun, and delicious - Had a great tour with our guide Remi! We went to 3 different chateaus in a spacious van over the span of about 6 hours. Our tour had 4 total people on it with space for 7-8 and I’d say it’s ideal for anyone who loves learning about wine.
This was an incredible learning experience. At each chateau there was a guide employed by the chateau who walked us through their property and process.
Having food at the different vineyards surprisingly allowed us to focus more on the wine tasting because we weren’t worried about stopping to get food.
The full day tour focusing mainly on Medoc was a necessity in my opinion. There was so much to see and I think a half day would’ve barely scratched the surface.
With that being said, on our trip to Bordeaux we had 2 free days and did a full day St. Emillion tour on our other free day. If you only were spending one day in the region or don’t really care about wine I could understand consolidating you tour into half-Medoc/half-St. Emillion. However, a full day in each region was really important to allow me to compare and contrast between the two (without giving too much away the differences are striking).
I definitely left with more knowledge than I went in with and would highly recommend to anyone else!

Highly Recommend Rustic Vines - We were with a wonderful crew training for this upcoming season. The drive was comfortable and the stops were informative, welcoming and delicious! You will see and taste a wide variety of wines and foods in the region. We are lucky enough to be experiencing another tour with them on our trip. If you choose Rustic Vines, you are in good hands!

Complete novices - We were interested in learning how to appreciate wine so booked this tour. We found the office easy enough and were warmly greeted. As typical English tourists with very broken French the staff were very accomodating. We took the bus to Medoc and visited two chateaux and a wine shop for three tastings. I now understand a little more about wine, about how high the quality is in this area and how when I buy a £6 bottle in Tesco’s I might be buying very low quality wine but if you like it, you like it. The trip was easily tailored to my million questions, I wasn’t made to feel small or patronised for my lack of knowledge. A really ample lunch which was gorgeous. The level was perfect for us, we had a great day out. I even went home with an expensive bottle (for me) to mature at home and save for an occasion. Lovely

Great Tour with just the right amount of time and stops - We did the tour on a Thursday with Lauren. Unfortunately, she will be returning home to the US west coast soon and will not longer be a guide! I had originally booked a much more expensive tour with another company that has minimum of 4 requirement, which I think they use mainly as a bait and hoom scheme to get people to upgrade to a private tour for more money. When I realized that the minimum wasn't going to be met and that they would not let me know until the day before if the tour was to happen, I asked and received a full refund even though there was a posted penalty. I then found Rustic Vines with a 2 person minimum and am very glad I did. The price was about 1/3 of the other one. The difference was probably a fancier lunch and some higher priced wine chateaux. We made the right choice. I did receive an email the day before asking if we could reshedule for Friday, but since we only had one full day there, we couldn't. A third person (a guy from England) joined us at the last minute and added to the day's entertainment. We found the office and waited about 20 minutes for the tour since we were early. Lauren arrived, got our lunch supplies ready, gave us each water bottles for the day, and we were off. We stopped at a chateau and were given a tour by a guy that looked about 12! He was 20 or so, I think. Afterwards, Lauren had our lunch set up on the grounds at a table. It was meats, breads, and cheeses with wine, of course. We then proceeded to another chateau and had a great tour from a very nice lady. We were there at the right time to see all the grapes hanging on the plants just before harvest time. On our return to Bordeaux we stopped at a wine shop. The prices were much better at the chateaux than at the wine store/souvenir shop. Upon our return to the city, I asked Lauren to drop us off near a tram stop, and we said our goodbyes. Next time we're in Bordeaux, I plan to do another one of their van tours (too old for bikes). It's a good value with great places to see and good wine to drink!
