Wonderful day at the dunes + delicious oyster lunch ! - This tour was wonderful and so well balanced. Gallad, our tour guide was so friendly and down to earth as well as knowledgeable as well as fun. The dunes are an incredible once in a lifetime sight. There is bathrooms and cafes located at the bottom of the dunes as well. We had a drive through Arcachon which was full of history. Then finished off with a relaxing, filling lunch of incredibly tasty and fresh oysters/prawns/pate/bread/pickles and of course, wine! Learned about the oyster industry and had a good look around the old shacks and oyster village. Lovely group of 8 people and a comfortable van ride, all in all a very full and rewarding day that we will never forget! Merci beaucoup Gallad.

Note: this tour is 7-8 hours long, NOT 5 hours. - Kevin picked us up, then 2 other couples, before heading for the Dunes. He knows his subject, and he gets you up those dunes and back down -- not too quickly, thankfully. Be sure to bring a hat and water - you will be standing out in the sun for 2-3 hours. And wear shoes that you can dump the sand out of easily; they fill up fast. As a reward for hiking the dunes, he took us to a small oyster cafe where you sit outside and they serve the freshest oysters you could want. He also provides wine, bread, sea snails, pate, butter, and shrimp (if you don't like oysters). But the oysters are great. I had no problem eating MY 12. And Kevin even brought several varieties of Tabasco sauce (since it is not provided by the cafe). Loved this place. The oysters were everything we hoped for since they're farm-raised in this area. We made it back to Bordeaux after a short stop in Archachon (beach resort area with shopping) but 2+ hours later than we expected. We just made it to our 4 o'clock food & wine tasting tour. Overall, really enjoyed the day. Kevin did a great job of keeping 2 French-speaking Canadians and 1 English speaking passengers fully informed.

Good day trip to Dune du Pilat from Bordeaux! - This tour is great if you want to see a lot in a day. Kevin, our guide took us to the Dune du Pilat in the morning and we had about an hour there. I think that this is enough. We had a superb lunch of oysters, prawns, whelks, pork pate washed down with white wine in La Cabane de Tapioou (in La Teste de Buch). This was a really good lunch and I was stuffed. The final stop of the day trip was Arcachon. We had one hour here. This is enough time to walk along the beach and have an ice cream but not enough time to explore the town. It would be nice to have another hour to explore the town but I appreciate that some other travellers don't want to spend that much time on a day trip and would prefer to get back to Bordeaux early. I would definitely recommend this trip. Our guide, Kevin was very efficient in getting us to our destinations in good time.

A good trip from Bordeaux - Very interesting trip. The dunes are magnificent. Highly recommended if done in the morning when it is quiet. Kevin was very informed, attentive and an excellent host at lunchtime. It was an enjoyable experience.

Great multilingual guide! - Tour includes 3 stops. The first two were my favorites. The dune had amazing views It does involve some steps or else climbing a steep hill. The stop at La Teste de Buch included delicious oysters, shrimp, pate, bread and wine. Kevin was quite knowledgeable and attended to all guests as needed.

A “must” - We went there on Sept. 18, 2025. An extraordinary experience unmissable. Kevin is very kind, generous and dynamic. He accompanies us at all times, provides ample explanations, is comical. He receives us for lunch in a chic terrace. Oysters are DELICIOUS and fresh. Surprises await us and contribute to this superb day. May I leave you on your appetite? Go ahead, it's worth the cost and he deserves a generous tip. Andre and Luce

Good tour but not a great tour - So, first, consider you attitude towards oysters. If you already know you like oysters, then go ahead and take this tour because you probably will enjoy it. If you don’t know you opinion of oysters then keep other tour options in mind and consider their relative merits. I don’t remember ever (I’m 60.) having eaten a raw oyster before, so I had no opinion about oysters other than I had heard that region is famous for great oysters. On this tour, I ordered six oysters, I ate those six oysters, I was not disgusted by them, and I decided that there many other things that I would prefer to eat (such as sushi/sashimi) and I would likely never eat another raw oyster again. Second, be aware that it is difficult to walk on sand and this dune is 100 meters (330 feet) high. And being next to the North Atlantic makes it very windy and frequently wet, which makes climbing up and across and down this dune HARD, not impossible, but difficult. So if you have balance or walking issues then don’t start up the dune, especially on a wet windy day. Third, our tour driver was not the best driver and nearly side-swiped a few cars on the highway going from and to Bordeaux. That made me somewhat uncomfortable especially considering that we were in the van moving for about three hours. Our guide-driver would probably do satisfactorily as an express courier/package delivery driver, but not as a chauffeur.
