- Bolzano - Proceed to the rail track (Die Transporte), where 13 wagons carrying prisoners were dispatched to the trans-alpine concentration camps of Dachau, Mauthausen, Flossenbürg, Ravensbrück, and Auschwitz. Continue to the City Cemetery and visit the memorial in the Jewish sector, which honors the 96 Jewish residents of South Tyrol who were deported by the Nazis and perished in the local camp. The final stop before reaching the historical center is the memorial for forced labor, located next to the Virgolo Gallery, once a significant arms factory for ball bearings, where camp prisoners were forced to work.
- Piazza Walther - Embark on a walking tour of the medieval historical center, where you will discover Bolzano’s significance as a key trade center on the Transalpine Augsburg-Venice route and the presence of a Jewish community dating back to the 14th century. During the walk, your guide will highlight “Stolpersteine,” brass plates covering cobblestones, inscribed with the names and life dates of Bolzano’s Jewish residents, victims of Nazi persecution. The tour concludes in front of Café Mozart.
