A great introduction to Bologna - We ended up with a really small tour (just 6 people), which was very nice. Our guide was very knowledgable and answered questions well. He took us around the old parts of Bologna and explained a bit of the history of the city, which was a great introduction to the city. I liked that the tours use certified guides. We took the tour as part of the Bologna Welcome Card, which we found to be a deal for the things we wanted to do in the city.

Informative and Interesting Walking Tour - Cristina was excellent. She was very knowledgeable about Bologna and its history. Her English was excellent ( thankfully, as unfortunately we don't speak Italian), she was able to answer all the questions posed to her and she had a warm and friendly manner.

A great city deserves our great guide. - Fantastic. Balogna is so rich in history that it really warrants a guided tour. Our guide was encyclopedic in her knowledge and she answered our many questions.

Bologna Portico Parade - Bologna in late afternoon feels like a theatrical pause where sunlight sculpts stone into warm ochre and every arch frames a story. Start in the historic core and let the rhythm of the city set the pace: narrow lanes opening into the sightlines of the Two Towers, leaning and proud above terracotta roofs. Walk beneath endless porticoes whose vaulted shadows cool you from the afternoon blaze and funnel you toward the heartbeat of the city. Piazza Maggiore unfolds with cathedral facades, the baroque sweep of Neptune’s fountain, and open-air trattorie spilling tables onto the square. Order tagliatelle al ragù; let conversation and the scent of basil and garlic thread through sunlit pauses. A cheeky dachshund, leash taut and tail wagging, will likely sidle past your chair, earning pats and a free smile. Stone benches become stages for lovers, students, and old men solving the world’s problems; courtyards hold hush and lingering light. Look for quiet tributes to Garibaldi the uniter of Italy scattered in plaques and sculpture, reminders of the nation woven into municipal life. Shadows grow long across worn paving as vendors fold up prints and gelato melts into leisurely licks. Late afternoon brings a palette shift: cobalt sky, golden beams through arches, and a cooling breeze that smells faintly of espresso and warm bread. Wander until the lamps click on and the city takes on a different tempo — softer voices, clinking glasses, and music from an open window. Leave with pockets of basil, a photograph of a sunlit portico, and the satisfied hunger that only Bologna can promise, and www.dachshuntours can help you realise this dream!

A good tour to do while in Bologna. - This tour was quite good overall. The tour guide did a good job of showing us important aspects of downtown Bologna and the significance of some of the structures. The only downside that I would say is the inflexibility of the tour company. I had purchased tickets for one time slot and the TripAdvisor app mistakenly listed me as a different time. When I told the tour company about this, they completely refused to work with me in regards to the situation. I had to buy completely new tickets for a time slot only a few hours later. There would have been no problem in just allowing me to tagalong in the earlier time slot that I had originally selected. That was ungracious and upsetting. But I tell you what, if it was not for that this would have easily scored a five star review.
